Report: New Iranian Remote-Control Mini-Submarine

A report was released in Iran about a mini-submarine operated by remote control, with a GSM system or onboard computer, that can reach a depth of eight meters and carry eight kg of explosives.

The submarine's planners say that the sub is invisible to radar, and that the robot on board will sense when a diver approaches the sub and will release hormones to attract schools of fish, thereby concealing it from diver.

Well, they got it to dive, but that’s the easy part. Anything in the water can dive - once.

Hmmm....could the mini sub information be as accurate as this missile test?

GSM is a cell phone technology. What's it going to do, make telemarketing calls?

They’re certainly easy enough to make - IIRC, terrorists in Iraq frequently use them for IEDs.

“The submarine’s planners say that the sub is invisible to radar, and that the robot on board will sense when a diver approaches the sub and will release hormones to attract schools of fish, thereby concealing it from diver.”

Hey, this is great stuff...first of all you don’t use radar underwater, it’s sonar instead. Secondly, all the fish will be dead or fled after the US sonar arrives.

It’d also take quite a few 8 kg explosive charges to seriously damage a large warship. 800 kg charges are a different story...

Iran’s military reminds me of the Iraqi Information Minister.

OPINION:

Yes, it seems the jihadis in general have found that losing the “martyrs” means you have train up others.

Remote-controlled operations saves terrorist lives and they can live to another day to do more bad deeds.
