Are you from New York State, especially Kirsten Gillibrand's district? (Special Election)

Posted on 01/23/2009 11:47:22 AM PST by Sun

Because Governor Paterson picked Gillibrand to replace Hillary Clinton, there will be a Special Election to replace Kirsten Gillibrand for congressperson.

Call the New York State Republican Party, and tell them you want her to be replaced with a pro-life, conservative, and to please pick a pro-life, conservative like Assembly Minority Leader Tedesco, John Faso (who ran against Spitzer in the governor's race) and Assemblywoman Betty Little. All of these people were said to be strong possibilities, and all are pro-life, and conservative in every way.

Why call the republican party? Call the Guv, he’s the only one who can make the appointment. Patterson is NOT going to listen to Republicans.

He didn’t listen to the Dems either. They are spitting mad on his Senate replacement.

Why is their so little knowledge that reps are appointed by special election not the governor.

Senators in some states can be appointed by the governor.

I heard on the tv that there will be a SPECIAL ELECTION to replace Rep. Kirsten Gillibrand. Governor Paterson will not be picking her replacement for congresscritter.

I don’t think there will be a primary for the SPECIAL ELECTION, so the Republican Party in New York State will pick the candidate who will run against whoever the Dems pick.

Today I called the New York State Republican Party and asked that they pick a pro-life, conservative like the names I listed above.

Maybe it will be on the local news’ stations on your tv tonight. I heard it on my local news at noon today.

The media would like everyone to believe the Gillibrand is some kind of centrist.

Hogwash.

The district that she held has been in Republican hands only 18 years out of the past 70 years.

She supports same-sex marriage, abortion rights, stem cell research, and the Children’s Health and Medicare Protection Act. She received a 100% rating from the American Civil Liberties Union. She opposes attempts to partially privatize Social Security. She strongly supported passage of the 2008 Farm Bill.

So what's with all the talk about her being NRA-backed?

“She received a 100% rating from the American Civil Liberties Union.”

Whoa, that says it all, and the rest of your post is also very informative.

Another poster (in another thread) from her district has suggested that the NRA support is an election ploy. I suspect there's some truth to it...her district is mostly rural. It surrounds Albany, but doesn't include Albany or any other cities of significant size.

I heard on the tv that there will be a SPECIAL ELECTION to replace Rep. Kirsten Gillibrand.

There will be a regular election in two years where we'll have the opportunity to replace her. Don't think for a New York minute that the Dems are going to call a special election. Why would they? They own this state.

Both the Dems and the Republicans have put some names out there, so it looks like there WILL be a SPECIAL ELECTION.

Let’s make sure we don’t have any more RINOs from NYS. Call the NYS GOP, please.

I just heard that Tedesco definitely wants the job, and he is a fighter. Ask Mark Levin who also called him a fighter, and had him as a guest on his show.

Tedesco is a very strong fiscal conservative, as well as his other conservative positions. We sure need a fiscal conservative, especially NOW!

Tedesco also subbed on a talk show and has a likeable personality which doesn’t hurt. :)

And best of all, when I went to a prolife affair where Henry Hyde was the principal guest speaker, Tedesco was there!

ATTN: EVERYBODY, even if you’re not from New York State, should support a fighter like Tedesco. We need conservative fighters now more than ever!

You can’t keep a House seat vacant for nearly 2 years.
