Obama to GOP: "I won"
Politico ^ | 1/23/2009 | Jonathan Martin and Carol E. Lee

President Obama listened to Republican gripes about his stimulus package during a meeting with congressional leaders Friday morning - but he also left no doubt about who's in charge of these negotiations. "I won," Obama noted matter-of-factly, according to sources familiar with the conversation.

The exchange arose as top House and Senate Republicans expressed concern to the president about the amount of spending in the package. They also raised red flags about a refundable tax credit that returns money to those who don’t pay income taxes, the sources said.

"He won". But only the White House. The House and Senate is where the people's representatives hash out legislation. We have a voice and a right to object to Obama's socialist BS. He doesn't get to dictate squat. Approve or veto. It's annoying that the little emperor has started so rapidly pushing Executive Orders...the contents of which is he apparently oblivious. The "wizard" behind the curtain is Greg Craig. He's crafting the EO's and getting his puppet to sign them.

I don't understand why so many people don't get the concept that elections are held to win.

They are not held so that a person can cast protest vote, vote for a new or third party, stay home or otherwise tilt a windmills.

Elections give us the leaders who win them, a rather basic concept but a concept that is lost on so many..

You're right. For all this blather we heard during the election and after it about bipartisanship, we need to remember that Obumface has no history of that, in any of his elected offices. He has been pure partisan, through and through. Anyone who thought otherwise was just whistling in the dark. He's going to be a tyrant, no question about it.

" I won. "

“No, “we won” is uttered by crass party animals.”

Actually, when a party wins a majority they and their ideas have been selected by the people ... so why would anyone want to opt to “compromise” with the losers?

And your definition of statesman is missing the obligatory anal lubing necessary for “bipartisanship” with Democrats ... who only insist on compromise, never give it.

Idiot Repubs. I’m glad BO put his cards on the table, maybe just maybe the opposition will get some steel in it’s spine instead of being bipartison roadkill. I’m sure this may be news to some but it has been obvious to most Conservatives that htis is a fight we need to have!

"I won," Obama noted matter-of-factly...

And what did the Republicans do? Crawl away with their tails between their legs? Probably.

Hussein is going to try and be a little tin god. I hope some of the Republicans in power help put some rust on him, instead of trembling at him like he is 10 feet tall. 'Cause omniscient he ain't--I don't care what Axelrod tells him.

This has been a failing of GOP moderates, including W, who time and again bent over to reach out to Democrats at every turn ... instead of adhering to their values and acting like the majority (when they had it) instead of whimpering puppies trying to make nice with Democrats who wouldn’t piss on them if they were on fire.

You are correct, sir/madam.

Elections have consequences.

Democrats were willing to do and say anything to win. Democrats relentlessly portrayed Bush as a dunce, a liar, a war-monger, a war criminal. The Republicans were painted as corrupt, out of touch, in bed with the rich, and sexual deviants and prudes at the same time.

They won. That’s how they won. How they won doesn’t matter, they are going to execute their agenda now.

The GOP were so pathetic it is hard to know whether to care about them regaining power or not.

“I won” may be the final words anyone says to the feckless GOP, it explains in a nutshell the powerless position they are in, and their own irrelevance.

If I did want the GOP to win again (why? so we could nominate another Amnesty supporting fool like McCain??) I would advise them to go into opposition now. The job is not to compromise, meet with Barrack or anything else.

It is to make use the exact same tactics on the Donks they just used on you.

The first three unlimited cage fighting matches held in the modern era were all won by a trim 6 foot 1 inch jui-jitsu fighter from Brazil. He defeated boxers, wrestlers, kung-fu fighters, tae kwan do masters, one and all. By match four all of the martial artists from other disciplines had started studying jui-jitsu. They wanted to win.

The GOP appears willing to continue to be beaten savagely rather than change their tactics. They also appear willing to screw their supporters when given the opportunity.

It’s gonna be a long, long four years. We might all enjoy it more if we realize that the GOP need to beaten a lot more before they wake up and realize, despite what their high school coach told them, boxing is *NOT* the ultimate fighting art. To beat Brazilians you have to learn to grapple.

To beat Democrats you have to learn to throw mud, demonize, use procedural tricks, and pound single stupid ideas into the minds of the hopelessly TV addicted American Idol audience. “Bush Lied, People Died” “The Culture of Corruption”.

The sooner we start the better. Otherwise, expect to hear “I Won” from that arrogant Kenyan as often as the assembled martial arts practitioners hear it from Royce Gracie in the 1980s.

maybe the next GOP President will stop the non-sense of “reaching out to the Dims.”

If there ever is another GOP President. I doubt there will be. Of if there is it will be a "New GOP" that has renounced the evil doctrines of Goldwater, Reagan and Gingrich in favor of Democratic Socialism.

“You are correct, sir/madam.”

It’s sir ... and thanks.

What exactly is the point of proposing ideas to get elected if the winners abandon them and opt to “go along to get along” with the losers.

Screw that noise. Win elections by remaining true to conservative principles is the key.
