WASHINGTON — Inaugural organizers fielded a flurry of complaints on Wednesday from people who had tickets to see President Obama’s swearing-in, but who were left stranded in an underground traffic tunnel near the Capitol.
Senator Dianne Feinstein, Democrat of California and chairwoman of the Congressional committee that handled the ticketing arrangements, said Wednesday that the Rules Committee would investigate the problems that kept thousands of ticket holders from seeing the event.
The Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, in a statement on Wednesday, expressed regret that some ticket holders could not get to their sections, primarily in the standing-room area below the Capitol that was designated by the color purple and in the nearby blue zone.
Many people with tickets and even more who arrived without tickets, hoping to see the event from the Mall, endured long waits and frustrating delays in the subfreezing weather. But the purple-ticket holders appeared to have been abandoned by event organizers as they stood crowded, frustrated and cold in what some referred to as the Purple Tunnel of Doom in pictures posted on the Internet.
One purple-ticket holder who said he wanted an explanation and an apology was David Meyer, a Washington political consultant, who along with his girlfriend, missed the ceremonies as they stood in the tunnel for hours without any information.
“The problem was that police directed a large number of people into the tunnel and then they were ignored,” Mr. Meyer said. “There was absolutely no organization at all.”

Democrats like Feinstein couldn’t handle popping a pimple much nor do they have any desire to conduct an investigation which would reveal their incompetence.
It’s just a pity the orgasmic media from MSNBC weren’t the ones held in the tunnel.
The weak minded fools will get used to it, as long as we suffer from this usurper we will all be traveling in a tunnel of doom.

They’ve already redone the oath, how long do ya think it will be before someone suggests that they redo the ceremony and parties so everyone can get their share...
While most people were enjoying themselves on the National Mall while watching Barack Obama make history, there were others stuck in the Third Street Tunnel making every attempt possible just to get to their seats for the inaugural ceremony.
A lot of them never made it, thanks to a potential security snafu of massive proportions.
At least 1,000 people who had tickets to get into the inaugural event missed out. A lot of those had tickets in the purple or silver sections. Most of those people used mass transportation and arrived early -- i.e., did what they were supposed to do.
But instead of seeing Obama's historic day, they spent most of their time walking or standing in the Third Street Tunnel. Why? That's where police told them to go.

OK OK, DiFi will arrange a 3rd swearing in ceremony. The California ticket holders can fly in on Pelosi direct airlines (no stops in flyover country).

My thoughts exactly. Wait till you see how well DiFi, Nancy, and Barry handle the spending of the stimulus money. Will go to all their friends and cronies, and the common folks will be left out in thecold, just like these folks in the tunnel.
Now, now! You can tell Ray-Ray Nagin didn’t have any part in this. If he had- the tunnel would have been flooded.

The actual swearing in ceremony went much smoother though, as it was earlier in the morning and the loony left was busy sleeping in. The rest of us patriotic Republicans followed the rules, had our tickets in our hands, our purses and jackets open as we sailed through security with no problems at all.
