Thursday, January 22, 2009 It was a big first day in the White House for President Barack Obama, who announced a pay freeze for his staff, not to mention new (and stringent) restrictions on lobbying. Meanwhile, the new chief executives cabinet continued to take shapeHillary Clinton overwhelmingly got the green light as the next Secretary of State, and Treasury Secretary hopeful Tim Geithner made it through his hearings with promises of confirmation. But not so fast, Eric Holder! The presidents choice for Attorney General will have to wait at least another week after Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee requested a delaymuch to the angst of committee Chairman Patrick Leahy, a Vermont Democrat.
Theres no angst in the Independent Nationonly high hopes for a brand new (and better) America. And you can do your part each and every day by participating in the national conversation with Mr. Independent, Lou Dobbs.

And ROSANNA PULIDO, the founder of the Illinois Minuteman Project, will discuss her efforts to fill the House seat of Rahm Emanuel, President Obamas chief of staff.
