WASHINGTON (AFP) Hillary Clinton won confirmation Wednesday as US secretary of state from her fellow senators, who voted 94-2 for the former first lady to become President Barack Obama's top diplomat.
The only two dissenters were Republicans Jim DeMint of South Carolina and David Vitter of Louisiana.

DeMint ping!
This may turn out well for us. :)
Two vertebrates.
Republicans, with noted exceptions, have no fight in them! Looks like Saxby is feeling mighty comfortable after pulling out the W in GA...it didn’t take him long to get back to his old ways. He and Johnny need to be run out of GA on a rail.
If you had told me four years ago, that a dem would be president, I could buy it, I would have thought Hillary. However, if you told me that Hillary would be SOS and that only 2 Republicans would vote against her nomination, I would have said you were crazy. The GOP has no spine at all.
FR is right. “Our corruption doesn’t count.” [Dems]
So that was the payoff for her to drop out? I wonder what else camp obama had to cough up?
Before the vote, however, DeMint voiced further concern about foreign donations to Bill Clinton's foundation. DeMint said he wished Clinton well in her new post and defended her qualifications, but said he would vote against her confirmation.
He said he was also concerned about Clinton's pro-abortion beliefs and warned against using foreign assistance dollars to fund abortion.
Now I can rest assured in the knowledge that our nation’s foreign policy is secure!
Third time this story’s been posted.
I’d be interested to know if John Cornyn voted and which way since he held up her confirmation yesterday.
Well, how else would you like me to post the news that the only Senate opposition to the Zero is coming from DeMint and Vitter? Start a vanity?
Cornyn voted yea on Clinton's confirmation.
DeMint and Vitter were the only nays; Clinton abstained from voting, and Kennedy did not vote either.
All other Senators voted YES! for Hillary.
Last week DeMint voted to rubber stamp her appointment in committee and heaped praise on Hillary, saying he believed she'd be “one of our best secretaries of state. This week he voted against her on the Senate floor? Which is it Jim? Is she unacceptable for SOS or one of the best ever? This makes less sense that Kerry being against funding Iraq before he was for it. What changed in a week?

Amply discussed on the first thread.
Yeah for my Senator, Jim DeMint. At least he still has a spine and balls.
That really stings.
