The swearing in of Barack Hussein Obama got off to a shaky start when the oath of office administered by Chief Justice John Roberts was flubbed not once, but twice. Perhaps they should have had a teleprompter. With the swearing-in successfully executed, Obama is officially the 44th President of the United States of America. So help us God.
The frigid cold may not have deterred crowd turnout, but the 2-4 million people expected on the mall fell short of media-hyped predictions. Obama was lauded for having written his own speech, a speech that was promoted by the media as one that was expected to be chiseled into marble before Obama even got to the Oval Office.
These high expectations were dashed by a speech that offered absolutely nothing new and had literally no theme or flow. The subdued crowd did not know where the applause lines were and was painfully unaware of where their new leader was trying to take them.
Obamas delivery was clipped, and the speech clunked out of the gate with such memorable opening lines as, So it has been, so it must be with this generation of Americans, that we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood. Our nation is at war against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened, as a consequence of greed and responsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age. Homes have been lost, jobs shed, businesses shuttered, our healthcare too costly, our schools fail too many and each day brings the evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet. These are the indicators of crisis.
Okay, then.
To say that this speech was a bit disjointed is an understatement. And it only got worse as it went on. Obama offered platitudes and wishful thinking: On this day we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord. On this day we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn-out dogmas that for far too long have strangled our politics. We remain a young nation, bu,t in the words of scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things. The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit, to choose our better history, to carry forward that precious gift and that noble idea passed on from generation to generation the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness.
All the media hype made this day about more than just inaugurating a president. The buildup by the so-called mainstream media was more about the need for their own validation for the outcome of a presidential election they themselves helped manufacture with their unashamed bias.
It was disturbing to witness the Orwellian media buildup surrounding this inauguration and the resulting spectacle of people whipped up into something bordering on idol worship. Even more alarming is that the new president really doesnt seem to mind being the target of that worship. As this country goes through the worst economic times since Jimmy Carter was president, Obama has raised and spent over $170 million on events designed merely to perpetuate the myth of a new presidential savior.
Perhaps now that the pomp and resulting circumstances have passed, we will get our first real look at what to expect from this new president. Perhaps.

I would have flubbed to if I had to stand by this anti American and give the oath.
Chief Justice John Roberts flubbed purposely. It’s gotta be hard to maintain composure swearing in such a class act.
I havent read them but how does this speech compare to Barracks books ?
Maybe CJOTSC Roberts should have established a precedent for certifying Presedential qualifications. But he chose to punt and then flubbed the snap.

Good analogy.
I figured that Ted Sorenson would help with some memorable phrases. Too bad Sean Hannity spooked Obama over his ties to Bill Ayers or he could have gone to him for help in writing the speech.

the Communist Manifesto ?
The Manifesto, says that all the surplus that goes to the capitalist as profits is in reality the “property” of the working class who created that wealth.
It would have been very hard to contain myself from throwing an egg or tomato at the fraud because I sure wanted to throw it at the tv screen when I saw only 2 seconds & gagged.
“Our economy is badly weakened, as a consequence of greed and (IR)responsibility on the part of ...”
...Left-wing Democrat politicians!

Well, he shouldn't have been:
Last month,[Jon] Favreau met for an hour in Chicago with Obama and adviser David Axelrod, as is their habit before important speeches. Obama told him to make the inaugural address no longer than 15 or 20 minutes, and they agreed to theme it around, Favreau said, "this moment that we're in, and the idea that America was founded on certain ideals that we need to take back." Obama asked for a first draft by Thanksgiving. Favreau explained that he had planned a vacation and promised a draft by this week.
During his vacation, Favreau e-mailed notes to himself via BlackBerry while visiting friends in Manhattan and talked about structure at his family's Thanksgiving dinner. He listened to recordings of past inaugural addresses and met with Peggy Noonan, Ronald Reagan's speechwriter, to seek advice. One of Favreau's assistants researched other periods in history when the United States faced crises; another interviewed historians such as David McCullough. Still more daunting is the list of things Favreau can't think about as he writes the inaugural. He went for a run to the Lincoln Memorial last month and stopped in his tracks when he imagined the mall packed with 3 million people listening to some of his words. A few weeks later, Favreau winced when Obama spokesman Bill Burton reminded him: "Dude, what you're writing is going to be hung up in people's living rooms!" "If you start thinking about what's at stake, it can get paralyzing," Favreau said.

And Obummer has the nerve to tell us to put our childish things away.

Not sure if I should make a separate thread for this, or if the mods will zap it.
I'm sure the MSM, and all of 'That One's' buds were assuming he was talking about the Republicans, when he mentioned discord and worn out dogmas, but it more accurately describes the Democrats and the media over the last 16 years. The Democrats, and the MSM were even on the Republicans during both of x42's two terms, because we had the audacity to question his decisions!
You know if I’d have waited for hours in the freezing cold like those folks did I’d have been very dissappointed in the nothing speech he gave. Of course I’m not drunk on kool-aid either so perhaps that makes a difference?
