The American Civil Liberties Union of Minnesota said it will file suit today against a publicly funded charter school, alleging that it is promoting the Muslim religion and that its directors are using a holding company to illegally funnel taxpayer dollars to a Muslim organization.
The suit was to be filed this afternoon in U.S. District Court against Tarek ibn Ziyad Academy, known as TIZA, and the Minnesota Department of Education, which the ACLU says is at fault for failing to uncover and stop the alleged transgressions. The suit names the department and Alice Seagren, the state education commissioner, as co-defendants.
The department investigated the Twin Cities school last year, and the school said it had taken corrective actions in response to concerns about the practicing of religion in the school. TIZA officials have previously said they are in compliance with federal and state regulations...

Obama being elected, and now this. What is happening to this country??
I bet the Muslims would love that!
The ACLU is kinda like Hannibal Lecter. Just what you think you understand them, they help you with something.
****”I am shocked that the ACLU is actually taking action against a religion other than Christianity.*****
And that’s what scares me....they are using it as a springboard to come down harder on Christians....that’s all.
Don’t let the ACLU fool you. They are after two things:
-Money
-Power
"corrective action" "against" "practicing religion"?!?
Apparently this is actually meant to comply with:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the practice thereof."
I can see objecting to a school promoting a particular religion over others, but good grief, if "practicing religion" is not allowed in school, I suppose Christian parents should tell their children that while at school its OK to be cruel and selfish.
The only difference between the ACLU and CAIR are the last names of their members.
Wonders never cease.
My first thought exactly!
Uh Oh. Men with bushy black beards wearing Popeye like hat’s are going to be angry with this.
Hell hath officially frozen over.
The ACLU occasionally does seemingly good work. It is the other 99% thatis the problem.
Minnesota is officially in the insane Blue State category, as in “What are they, insane?”
Here’s the original Katherine Kersten story that started this whole thing.....

And, at the time, she was roundly criticized and accused of being a bigot and a racist by just about every left-leaning person and organization in MN...........
YIPPIE!! I was one among many that wrote the ACLU to protest this ‘charter school’. I’m surprised and pleased to see this happening.
Perhaps next they should go after the funding of mosques in America by the Saudi state.
Separation of church and state was not limited to JUST establishment/funding of churches by our OWN government. Mosques that are funded by foreign governments should not get a tax break in the US.
“Mosques that are funded by foreign governments should not get a tax break in the US.”
Unfortunately, your proposal would have to be applied universally, and it would be terrible for Catholicism in the U.S.
A small warm feeling in my heart...real small, but there.
