Steve Martin: You.. can be a millionaire.. and never pay taxes! You can be a millionaire.. and never pay taxes ! You say.. "Steve.. how can I be a millionaire.. and never pay taxes?" First.. get a million dollars. Now.. you say, "Steve.. what do I say to the tax man when he comes to my door and says, 'You.. have never paid taxes'?" Two simple words. Two simple words in the English language: "I forgot!" How many times do we let ourselves get into terrible situations because we don't say "I forgot"? Let's say you're on trial for armed robbery. You say to the judge, "I forgot armed robbery was illegal." Let's suppose he says back to you, "You have committed a foul crime. you have stolen hundreds and thousands of dollars from people at random, and you say, 'I forgot'?" Two simple words: Excuuuuuse me!!

Ask Wesley Snipes how he feels about this. What a joke.

He’s either a tax cheat or incompetent.
Sounds like just the guy to run the Treasury. :(

He’s not gonna serve as much of an example to us common Americans who sweat yearly trying to make sure every cent is accounted for.
Hours and hours and hours and hours of working to get everything together. Checks and double-checks. And triple checks. And check again.
And Geithner gets away with this crap with an apology?
Charles Rangle stays as head of his important committee after his ignoring the tax laws?
Gee whiz.
It is to laugh.

ANYONE else would be apologizing from the Graybar Hotel.

That unusual background noise is just congressional republicans strapping on their complimentary Obama-brand kneepads.

"...As to his failure to pay the payroll taxes from 2001 to 2004 while he worked for the International Monetary Fund, Geithner said: "These were careless mistakes. They were avoidable mistakes..." Bulls**t!! The IMF gave him that money, specifically to pay his payroll deductions. He just chose to use it otherwise.
If he can't be trusted to account for a few thousand dollars, how can he be trusted to account for trillions?
To: Carling
Oh, he’s not dumb.
He purposely structured his income to evade taxes.
It was no “innocent mistake” as the DBM keeps repeating.

You didn't, and pocketed the money instead - and didn't come clean about the money from 2001-2002 until after you were vetted by the Obama camp.
Sounds like tax evasion to me. People go to jail for less.
