Once upon a time, in what used to be a far away land called Hollywood (but is now a state of mind and everywhere), a young actor was handed a script and asked to bring to life a character called Starbuck. I am that actor. The script was called Battlestar Galactica.
Fortunately, I was young, my imagination fertile and adrenal glands strong, because bringing Starbuck to life was over the dead imaginations of a lot of Network Executives...
Witness the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica, bleak, miserable, despairing, angry and confused. Which is to say, it reflects in microcosm the complete change in the politics and morality of todays world, as opposed to the world of yesterday. The world of Lorne Greene (Adama), Fred Astaire (Starbucks Poppa) and Dirk Benedict (Starbuck). I would guess Lorne is glad hes in that Big Bonanza in the sky and well out of it. Starbuck, alas, has not been so lucky. Hes not been left to pass quietly into that trivial world of cancelled TV characters...

I haven’t gone for any ad hominems. You on the other hand:
to the point where their delusions of telepathy
you are a candidate for a good mental health screening.
misguided people, such as yourself,
you’ll eventually be swallowed completely by the rabid moonbattery
The funniest part about your reply is how you consider yourself to be some kind of a mind reader
You appear to be willfully misunderstanding the point,
And that’s just 3 posts, and that’s just the stuff you aimed at me. You’re downright rude to the writers of the show.
Funny how much you are what you claim others to be. You write a post entirely about you and then complain when I allow that topic to remain. You accuse me of imagining myself a mind reader then try to say what’s in my mind. And you complain about ad hominems while not having completed one single post in this thread that didn’t include an insult.
Talk about being impossible to be taken seriously.
ping
I actually haven’t read the last 2 or 3 of your posts because they’ve just gotten silly, just a lot of personal accusations, all over a TV show. I think I’m done with you.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Once again the guy that can’t write a post without it containing insults complains about being insulted. If you’re done then go away. Or keep showing up, you’re whining has gotten pretty damned hilarious, as you continue to accuse me of doing exactly what you’re doing. Keep it up, I love a good laugh.
I see your obsession with me isn’t over yet. Well, send me a picture. If you’re a hot female, maybe I’ll pay attention to you some more.
Oh look more insults from the guy who complains he’s being insulted. How, predictable.
What I can’t forget is that Jack Ryan was not satisfied with THAT, scewed around, and Obama is POTUS. Ryan might have won.
For someone who claims it is just a show, dilvish sure spends a lot of time defending it...
I’m guessing his gay brother is one of the writers, but that is just a guess.
Get out Retread!
I’ve been a pretty big fan of a show or two in my lifetime, but I never was so obsessed with one that I would get all hysterical if someone criticized it. Makes you wonder.
It is art -- the artist can choose an uplifting scene that makes people feel better for having seen it.
Or the artist can put a turd on a stick that no one wants to come within a mile of.
It all depends on whether the artist wants to be an artist or a jerk. When the "artist" only ever wants to explore darkness, it is no longer art. It is dumpster diving - it is evil.
Darkness is not an end to itself, and good art focuses on the uplifting ways and constructive ways we find to overcome darkness. Evil just seeks to exploit darkness for a buck.
Ryan’s information should have stayed secret, as it was confidential information. What was even worse was that the documents were out even before a judge gave the okay. Obama kind of threw Ryan under the bus in a very cold fashion.
I don’t hold 7 of 9... err, Jeri Ryan guilty at all for her ex’s defeat. She had as much to lose for those documents going public as he did.
The fact remains Jack being a swine is the cause of the divorce and information that was disclosed.
ok no offense, but man there are a lotta geeks in here tonight.
Star Trek Enterprise beats em all by the way.
I saw only a few Star Trek Enterprise episodes. Of those I saw, I thought the pilot episode was by far the best.
Maren Jensen “retired” and moved to a place of privacy somewhere in the Mid-West. That’s the last I heard, apparently she did get fed up with Hollywood but I don’t know how true that is.
Good for her! She got out of that handbasket...
So, did I get lucky drawing an analogy between the new Battlestar Galactica and the Golgafrincham Ark B (which crash landed on Earth and become for progenitors of humans in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) that gets even stronger in the final episode, or what? :)
People who have that much trouble with moral clarity live in trailer parks and have warrants out for their arrest.
Sure, real people make mind-numbingly stupid choices here and there, but they generally learn not to do it too often to avoid the aforementioned trailer park/arrest warrant situation.
If you were living on the ragged edge of existence portrayed in BSG, it wouldn't take much self-destructive stupidity at all to push you right over the edge.
