A new application has been launched for the iPod touch to help gun users line up a clean shot at their target.

The BulletFlight app, which costs £6.99 to download from the iTunes store, has been developed by Runaway App to turn the iPod touch into a ballistics computer which the company says can provide “quick solutions in the field”.

Users can mount their iPod touch to their rifle, and then use the iPod’s touch-screen to tap in details about the wind conditions, ammunition type, distance to the intended target and even the wind speed.

How many G’s shock rating is an Ipod Touch rated for?

I’m picturing the whole thing breaking after the 1st shot.

Don’t they have a pretty solid track record for being on the left side of things?

Yes they do--but they are also in business to make money, so they might sometimes compromise their "principles" LOL!

"14.5in SR16 rifle"

That's a big one. What is that, like a 343.215 mm?

Might need porters to help carry the rifle and ammo. More like a flatbed truck.

Ammo cost might be prohibitive.

Seems an odd application for this particular device. Why do I get the feeling the typical Apple/ipod/Mac user would not touch a firearm with a 10’ pole and would probably faint if asked to pick one up?

This is probably not the most auspicious day to be posting articles about sniper gear. Wait, who’s that knocking on your door?

You shake it to shuffle your music and play games. I think something might go amiss.

For you IDPA/IPSC types, there’s also a company that sells shot timer software for smart phones. Don’t recall the name at the moment.

It’s a mass market device. Both of my main range buddies and I all have iPhones. We’re all conservatives and 2A types.
