Senate considers unanimous-consent on Obama Cabinet (!!!)
The Hill ^ | 1/19/2009 | J. Taylor Rushing

Posted on 01/19/2009 6:15:54 PM PST by markomalley

The Senate on Tuesday is expected to attempt unanimous-approval votes of President-elect Obama’s Cabinet nominees, but it is uncertain who will be cleared by the upper chamber on Inauguration Day.

Senate Democratic leaders have circulated a unanimous consent request for 15 nominations at various departments, from Secretary of State nominee Hillary Rodham Clinton to United Nations Ambassador nominee Susan Rice. A senior Democratic aide cautions that leaders are uncertain how many will actually win unanimous approval, and that any roll-call votes that are necessary would be held on Wednesday.

The 15 names also include Attorney General nominee Eric Holder, Agriculture Secretary nominee Tom Vilsack, Education Secretary nominee Arne Duncan, Homeland Security Secretary nominee Janet Napolitano, Interior Secretary nominee Ken Salazar, Labor Secretary nominee Hilda Solis, Energy Secretary nominee Steven Chu, Environmental Protection Agency Secretary nominee Lisa Jackson and Deputy Defense Secretary nominee William Lynn.

The American people are in a pro-Obama mood right now. Anything associated with Obama must be good. Anything associated with Bush must be bad.

Not surprising, the Pubbies are incapable of leading so being owned is a welcome relief for them. They’ve got the perfect setup, in the minority and MSM saying give him a chance.

The Pubs will give the One whatever he wants in the “we need to get along” mode.

There are only a few Pubs that have any balls left, the rest are useless POS’S.

Service oath for soldiers of the armed forces

I swear by God this sacred oath that I shall render unconditional obedience to Adolf Hitler, the Führer of the German Reich and people, supreme commander of the armed forces, and that I shall at all times be ready, as a brave soldier, to give my life for this oath.

I agree. They are out of control and entering very dangerous territory now.

Yes they are.

How long until we hear calls for "30 Laws in 30 Days".

HR1022 style AWB is almost a bloody frakkin' certainty at this point.

Bull! America has shifted left due to the media. Don’t blame Bush. The media has crafted what the people would hear and the people have been so dummed down with American Idol mania and 24 hour Brittany mania. The kids get it drilled into their heads. The left - particularly the media - has destroyed the nation. The enemy within has struck what may be a mortal blow - and BUSH had nothing to do with that.

The student probably has their facts mixed up. Paraphrasing from a Byron York article:

As an American citizen working for the IMF, Geithner was considered self-employed and was required to pay Social Security and Medicare taxes for himself as both an employer and an employee.

The IMF and World Bank reimburse employees, including U.S. citizens, for their U.S. income taxes. They don't, however, make contributions toward Social Security and Medicare taxes, which individuals are expected to pay on their own.

So - this may be what the student had in mind - that the IRS would need a special procedure to collect the taxes as it relies on the honesty of the taxpayer to pay the proper amount. Geithner was expected to pay the Social Security and Medicare taxes himself. He didnt do that - despite the fact the IMF gave him all the proper paperwork and consistent reminders to file.

Another interesting point is, his salary also included remibursement of US taxes. Sweet gig if you can get it.

P.S. He also has a nanny problem

Do Republicans and others forget that 47% of the country and 55 million people voted AGAINST Obama?

I guess they are listening to the ignorant baying of people like Huckabee, Bill Kristol, George Will, etc., etc., saying, "We have to give Obama a chance and wish him great success...we can't treat him as the democrats treated Bush....bla, bla, bla."

Fox News has been in the bag for the False Messiah for some time now, and I put no stock in those polls. Half the country doesn’t have a clue about the incoming regime.

But, he added, he would not stand in the way of her appointment at this point and noted that Mrs Clinton could become one of the best US secretaries of state to date."

DeMint has lost his mind.

Not that I condone it, but I begin to understand the statement terrorist homicide bombers attempt to make a little bit better when I look at that picture and and then think about We, The People, now without representation and more or less politically powerless for another couple of years.

This is like pleading guilty with an explanation. Also a frigging waste of time.

Unanimous consent on Obama's nominees?

The Democrats were still blocking Bush's undersecretary nominations when 9/11 happened 8 months into his Presidency, and that was after tying up his transition funds for over a month in December 2000.

I hope this is a lesson to anyone who ever preaches "new tone" again.
