The Senate on Tuesday is expected to attempt unanimous-approval votes of President-elect Obamas Cabinet nominees, but it is uncertain who will be cleared by the upper chamber on Inauguration Day.
Senate Democratic leaders have circulated a unanimous consent request for 15 nominations at various departments, from Secretary of State nominee Hillary Rodham Clinton to United Nations Ambassador nominee Susan Rice. A senior Democratic aide cautions that leaders are uncertain how many will actually win unanimous approval, and that any roll-call votes that are necessary would be held on Wednesday.
The 15 names also include Attorney General nominee Eric Holder, Agriculture Secretary nominee Tom Vilsack, Education Secretary nominee Arne Duncan, Homeland Security Secretary nominee Janet Napolitano, Interior Secretary nominee Ken Salazar, Labor Secretary nominee Hilda Solis, Energy Secretary nominee Steven Chu, Environmental Protection Agency Secretary nominee Lisa Jackson and Deputy Defense Secretary nominee William Lynn.

Tagline says it all.
15 names in one fell swoop.
That’s a load full of change.. without consent of the people, well , the sane and sober ones anyway.
anti-coal, anti-capitalism, pro-control, pro-gre$$ive
how bad can it get?
On the plus side . . . all it will take is one Republican to say “no”.
If we don’t have that . . . then we’ve got nothing.
Yes, but not until many good people perish. :-(
Although I don’t think there’s any way this will fly. No way unanimous consent for Holder, Geitner, or Solis will go through.
UUUUGHHH!
The fact there was near-unanimous committee consent for Hillary’s nomination was bad enough. Have our Republican members forgotten the enormity of corruption and character issues (nevermind ideological) that disqualify virtually all of these candidates ?
I’m off to Galt’s Gulch. Let me know how that one-party state thing worked out...
At class tonight, a fellow student insisted that Geithner “couldn’t” pay the back taxes, that the IRS had to make a “special procedure” to collect the back taxes. Said it was on the news. Anyone have a source for this?
All hail Barama!
For he is the Dear Leader.
Make an "elect no incumbent" rule.
How many years would we have to practice that before we cleared the slate?
>>Yes, but not until many good people perish. :-(<<
Unfortunately, yes.
Things are too far out of hand now.
“If this happens all Senate Republicans are Dead to Me and we must stop any of them from ever getting near our party nomination EVER.”
BUMP!
Glenn Beck made a good point today. Soooo many people, myself included, feel disenfranchised right now. Our elected Republicans, save a few great conservatives in the house and senate, don’t seem to be representing us at the moment. The appointment of Caroline Kennedy just adds to this feeling. The leftist elites are arrogant and entitled. Do Republicans and others forget that 47% of the country and 55 million people voted AGAINST Obama?
I agree. They are out of control and entering very dangerous territory now.
Bush had to take longer because of the whole recount circus interfering with the transition. As I remember it from previous transitions, most new Cabinet appointees are confirmed in bulk with unanimous consent unless there’s some weird issue that pops up with some of them.
I no longer trust many Amerikcans to do what is right. Or to even know what is right and wrong.
Dear Leader knows best.
