About 10 years ago, Caspar Weinberger wrote a book called “The Next War” in which he put forth several scenarios about the next war the US would get involved in. One of them was the US invading Mexico after Mexico became a failed state.
It can be found here: Joint Operating Environment (JOE 2008)
Great! Another 110 million on welfare.
The ‘report’ has been posted for a week on FR.
The Military also told their people to stay out of Mexico because of the danger.

Troops are restricted on travel to Mexico
In response to the prolonged, escalating violence in Mexico, the commanding general of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force has tightened regulations for all Marines who want to travel south of the border, officials said.
Marines and sailors cannot travel alone to Mexico and must use the buddy system.
Also, troops must take an anti-terrorism course and keep the telephone number of the U.S. consulate in Tijuana when traveling in the border region. Violations of the order are punishable under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, officials said.

With what?
“No kidding. I think that this is nothing more than a theoretical study.”
See post 24. Read, don’t ‘think’.
Yeah, the same thought occurred to me.
But I did find this from CBS News: Mexico Biggest Crime Threat To U.S.?
"The prospect that America's southern neighbor could melt into lawlessness provides an unexpected challenge to Barack Obama's new government. In its latest report anticipating possible global security risks, the U.S. Joint Forces Command lumps Mexico and Pakistan together as being at risk of a "rapid and sudden collapse." "
This is particularly scary as we plan to drive down to Ensenada next month and have seriously been looking at retiring there.
Except for the weather....I think I’d rather go to Albania than Mexico....
Let’s face it. The drug cartels already run Mexico, and this is just a dispute among the cartels as to which will be top dog. Presidents of Mexico for many decades have all retired with more than a billion dollars in the bank. Where do we think this money comes from?
Not only that, but clinton had a close working arrangement with the cartel, and took a cut of the profits.
Bush, I think, probably is not getting personally paid off, but he also has a close working arrangement with the corrupt powers who run Mexico. His father actually worked with clinton on the CIA drug runs to the Nicaraguan Contras from Mena Airport, but that was ostensibly done as a way to get around the Democrat ban on funding any aid to the Contras. In other words, it could be described as in the national interest, though hardly an ideal arrangement.
Coming from the Chicago Mob, I presume Obama will play it the way clinton did, and take his 5% rakeoff for defending the cartels and clamping down on the small independent smugglers.
...What a great idea, Mexico invaded us, let’s invade Mexico...
...Just make sure you get approval from the fookin UN, “We don’t need no stinkin’ Constitution”...
...It’s OK, our living Constitution was murdered many moons ago...
“I say we deal with it and have more than 50 states.”
I say we stick with the 50 and just make the Republic of Texas that much larger.
The Alamo. Remember it.

You mean the way that we turned victory into defeat through the media and the Democrat desire for short-term gain along with the logistical support given to the other side by our “allies.” It looks like the One will enable this on a number of fronts.
He is going to attack the Red States.
Obama:We can not continue to rely only on our military...
He isn’t getting his own civilian army. He might want it but if he starts that, it’s going to be a SHTF situation imo.
That's a big "except for"! Love warm weather.
And, trust me, "Albania" is definitely not an option for me!
I am a native Californian, had Mexican food before I could walk and generally get along fine with Mexicans -- although obviously not the "drug-dealing thugs". Besides the complexion out here in CA isn't much different, the weather is better there and American equivalent houses on the beach in Baja cities are about half the average housing price of the US for something nowhere near the water.
I knew that there had been some significant incidences lately in Mexico, but didn't know it was this bad.
The Alamo. Remember it.
I could deal with that also, but are you sure that Texas wants sole responsibility for that hellhole?
It wouldn't be an invasion, it would be a "humanitarian liberation mission" which the press would applaud like they did when Clinton attacked our Serbian allies for daring to claim their territory from invading Muslim interlopers.
Personally, I'd like to see the border cauterized with napalm every hour on the hour, for about 2 years.
I thought the US Gov’t was collapsing at the hands of criminal enterprises.
