Die-hard Republicans wait for Obama shine to fade

WASHINGTON (AFP) – This week may see the biggest presidential inauguration in US history, but conservative uber-pundit Bill Kristol has vowed to leave Washington until the Obama mania subsides.

For his part, right-of-center radio talkshow host Rush Limbaugh declares he will be "the last man standing," and will never give in to fervour surrounding new president Barack Obama.

While much of the United States is all aflutter about the inauguration of a Democrat, some conservatives -- embittered by losing the White House for the first time in eight years -- say they will sit out the inauguration festivities.

"I disagree fervently with the people on our side of the aisle who have caved and who say, 'Well, I hope he succeeds. We've got to give him a chance,'" Limbaugh said on his program last week.

The arch-conservative radio commentator has said he is immune to Obama's message of hope and reconciliation, and said he has every reason to be unmoved, even if a large number of Republicans have joined the bandwagon.

"I've been listening to Barack Obama for a year-and-a-half. I know what his politics are. I know what his plans are, as he has stated them. I don't want them to succeed," he said.

Kristol, editor of the conservative Weekly Standard magazine, took umbrage in a recent column in the New York Times at the "presumption" of Obama's handlers of linking the president-elect's inauguration to that of his idol, Abraham Lincoln.

"It might be a good idea if, when he takes the oath, Obama makes sure that the Good Book is open to Proverbs 16:18, and its reminder that 'Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall,'" he wrote last month.

Although Obama’s “shine” if still blinding a lot of people in this country, it “faded” for me a couple years ago.

“even if a large number of Republicans have joined the bandwagon.”

The “Republicans” who have joined the Obama bandwagon are RINOs and should leave the party and become ‘Rats.

As true conservatives, we will NEVER submit to Obammunism, Obammania, or socialism. We know who Obama is and what he stands for!

Well, one “Repub” that is looking forward to Obamunism, is McCain. IMHO, he is the most dangerous Repub left in the Congress. I think he will work to get Obama his needed Repub votes to do anything to America, and its Constitution, he wants to. Why?

McCain needs a legacy. McCain needs to erase his presidential loss. But mostly he needs the MSM TO GLORIFY HIM AND HIS LEGACY. He would give away America to get this legacy. Think this is crazy? It is. But it could very likely happen.

Some have said Obama cannot hurt our Constitution because he cannot get the votes to do it -— well, think about this potential danger. It is my humble opinion that ONLY the states’ ratification vote will save America. Certainly the SCOTUS will not on Constitutional challenges. Keep an eye on this folks!!!

No need to wait — his Reichstag is filled with ex-clintonistas, scandal-ridden smarms and unqualified hacks.

He has already been proven a liar over and over again.

His attempt to pretend to be a centrist has po’d his libtard base and no one on the Right is fooled.

WAIT??? Who says we are “waiting” for Obama to lose his luster??? It’s already begun before he ever even took office. He is already apologizing to his masses for the promises he is going to break. I’m really gonna enjoy watching all those libs choke on their lil slice of humble pie when BHO doesn’t(can’t) pick up the tab for their light bills, cars, houses, etc.

A few Republicans might "mean it", but I suspect that these statements are more about being gracious in defeat than anything else. Kinda like not speaking ill of the recently deceased.

Not to far fetched! Pictures, Images and Photos

Republicans are just trying to survive, they see the show trials coming up for Bush officials and don't want the same thing happening to them.

I’m not ‘embittered’ about Obama winning the Presidency.

I’m highly pissed off with McLame, and Huckabee, and that won’t change in my lifetime.

If Kristol leaves DC it’ll only be because he sold his A-list invitations on eBay!
