We Have Not Tired, We Have Not Faltered...

Last night President George W. Bush gave his final scheduled speech as President of the United States. At noon next Tuesday, a new President will take the oath of office and the peaceful transfer of power from one American to another will take place as it has 44 times before.

President Bush had been in office for less than eight months when the terrorists struck on September 11, 2001. Ten days later, a relatively untested President said of terrorism, we will "Stop it. Eliminate it. And destroy it where it grows." The President threw down the gauntlet to the rest of the world saying, "You have a decision to make: You are with us, or you are with the terrorists." And in that speech President Bush said, "Whether we bring them to justice or bring justice to them; Justice will be done." In the seven years which have gone by since the goals of the new Administration of George W. Bush were refocused forever, American has been safe from attack.

"Stop it. Eliminate it. And destroy it where it grows."

It could be done -- but we can't do it. We fight wars nicely now. We care too much about our enemies and their supporters, and we don't care enough about our own warfighters. In order to beat terrorism, we would have to be willing to inflict casualties probably in the millions. Nuking Iran, Nuking Syria, Nuking North Korea. And deposing the Saudi royal family.

It could be done. But we can't do it.

We’re not realists in war. We won’t win until we go back to being that way.

But now this non uniformed group of terrorists will be benefiting from the Geneva Convention! However, anyone other than them, captured by them will be subjected to the terrorist form of law..beheading, incineration and hanging from the overhangs of bridges.

I disagree but not entirely. I think if we were to adopt the tactics of terrorism ourselves, we could put an end to it. But, we won’t so you’re right. :(

They kill for the fun of it in the name of religion. They have no life.

We try to kill selectively and take out the killers who kill in the name of religion.

Big difference, IMHO

What? When conventional tactics failed against guerillas, we adapted and overcame by developing our own guerilla tactics which worked far better than the conventional tactics. Terrorists are just a new and improved guerilla and we’re still fighting against it/them with WW2 inspired doctrine. I spent 8 years in the infantry. I know at least a little bit of which I speak on the matter.

Well, when you define what you mean in a bit more detail, I see what you are saying. Your original post was not so clear and many things could be construed.

Actually, I think our military has adapted well to their tactics. The obvious problem is that we are careful not to harm innocents that live under these animals terror, it is no doubt a difficult war to fight.

I think the real problem is the media and the dem political machine against their own country. Not that this aspect is new, but it is more powerful and influential then ever. Especially with limp wristed opposition to them.

George Bush is a globalist, you know, like Hillary, Obama, the Kennedys, most of the presidential candidates (both parties).. AND the Main Stream Media, Hollywood, pretty much all the players in Academia, Congress, the Supremes, most Lawyers, most government workers(others Unions), including many people YOU KNOW...

Short of a civil stampede of the sheeple(revolution) America is on a slippery slope..

Now we’re communicating. Nietzsche said “he who fights with monsters should take care that he does not become a monster himself”. I say BS. He who fights with monsters MUST become a bigger monster himself. In this day and age, he should just take care that nobody realizes he is such a monster. Like I said though, it won’t happen so here we are.

I agree with you. When we nuked Japan, some argue that we killed innocents...BS, the Japanese people were as big an enemy and threat as the imperial government. The Japanese people were the enemy.

In this fight, there are innocents living under thug rule by no choice of their own.

Unless we declare Islam the enemy (no it is not a religion in my view) then we will not win, you are right, it will never happen. I think there are some muzzies that probably do want to live a peaceful prosperous life, though they are mostly silent when their brethren commit atrocities.

Like I said, tough war, one that I wonder if can ever really be won with out a world war.

This is how I see Bush and Cheney. They did not go to Vietnam when they could have and should have .
The heck with how tough Bush spoke in Office. When it counted he was not there.End of story.Once you have been in combat you are very reticent about going into wars without end.

We’re not realists in war. We won’t win until we go back to being that way

I concur that we are not realist, but I beg to differ on if we can win being this way.

The war was won already. Since Bush stood on a aircraft carrier and said mission accomplished, we have not shot at a uniformed Iraqi Soldier under Hussein's control, a flagged Iraqi tank, or aircraft. The war has been won. We are trying to set up a new government. Also, I want to state this because the media won't: we removed 11 metric tons of yellow cake from Iraq (Iraq sold it to Canada). Also, eleven different chemicals were found (and if they were mixed together, you would have the deadliest agent on the planet). There were mobile weapons labs found also. Our problem is the MSM's talking head spew anti American spew. Down right treasonous in my book. That war has been won a long time ago and I am proud of our Troops.

The leaders of the MSM and the Demoratic Party would have you believe the war is going to hell in a hand basket and we lost. We lost a lot more men in WWII then we did in Iraq and we won the big one. The Japanese were much tougher warriors, then these people who hide behind woman and children are. What kind of a warrior is that, anyway? But no, we lost the war in Iraq according to Scary Reid and friends. The MSM and DNC was willing to lose a war to advance their party. And this is only part of the big problem.

The sad thing is, we could look like we won too (because we did), but the media and DNC won't let us win.

Maybe they will now, since they got their man in. I said maybe too.

What does your post have to do with my question to RC one?

“This is how I see Bush and Cheney. They did not go to Vietnam when they could have and should have.”

So in other words no one who has not seen combat should be elected to the Presidency?

For what it’s worth President Bush volunteered to go to Viet-Nam but was turned down as there was no call for F-102 pilots
