Buchanan's really join the Left. He's using the same taunts they used against Tony Blair. Instead of recognizing the common threats and common values that bind us, they mock an ally for not whimping out and joining the Left. Buchanan's problem is he only supports democratic people when it might benefit him, and he sides with dictators nearly every time as some sort of weird affinity with order and, of course, the cheap thrill of saying he's brave enough to take on the Zionists. And, actually, this is like anti-Americanism. There is no penalty for kicking the Israelis and sucking up the Palis. Pat's a disgrace.

Wouldn’t there likely be video or news reports of Bush walking off the stage in the middle of a speech to take a phone call? This is the guy who finished reading to the school kids when he found out about 9/11. I doubt a call from Olmert would spook him.

If Buchanan is an isolationist, why does he keep taking the side of the Palestinians?

Shouldn’t isolationists, be, you know, neutral? Did he take sides during Rwanda?

Buchanan is exactly right. Israel treats the United States with an arrogance unmatched by any of our allies, because Israel knows it can rely on a political base in the United States that will support Israel no matter what—as it has through the Israeli attack on the USS Liberty, Israeli espionage against the United States, and Israel’s selling sensitive military espionage against Red China. George Washington warned us what would happen if the United States formed a passionate attachment to another nation; it is a tragedy that his wise words are so widely ignored today.

As Israel entered the third week of its Gaza blitz

Interesting use of words here, Pat... First off, the NAZI connotations, since "Blitzkrieg" is both a German word, and was used very successfully by NAZI Germany during WWII. Secondly, it is the term coined by the British during WWII for the air attacks on England, and in particular, London. These were indiscriminate attacks by both bombers, unguided drones (V1) and guided missiles (V2). NAZI Germany wasn't the least bit concerned where their warheads fell, and used the tactic to cause the maximum amount of damage and casualties possible, as well as to try to demoralize the British.

Now, let's contrast that with Israel's "Gaza Blitz," shall we? Israel ONLY began her air attack on Gaza AFTER hamas announced that the so-called "Cease Fire" was not going to be renewed (and maybe you can explain a "cease fire" where only occasional rockets are fired at you by the enemy, rather than a regular barrage...), and they began firing rockets into Israel again. Israel responded with highly selective, targeted attacks against known leaders of hamas, as well as weapons caches, tunnels, and places of leadership. The fact that hamas hides itself within civilian areas is only testimony to Israel's restraint in this war, which is NOTHING like a "blitz." Israel has done everything in her power to limit the number of "innocent" civilian casualties, something difficult to do when your enemy looks at children as being worth more dead as propaganda material than alive.

When Israel bombs a building known to have civilian residents, Israel will drop leaflets or phone people inside, warning them to get to safety well ahead of time. Of course, this also alerts the bad guys. When hamas launches rockets at Sderot, the warning alarms give residents all of 15 to 30 seconds of warning. If you're not already at the shelter, you're SOL.

Israel goes out of its way to fight a "civilized war." They haven't shut off all utilities. Israel treats gaza's wounded in her hospitals. When the gazans aren't acting as enemies, they're allowed in Israel. Just how many Jews are allowed in Gaza, and if they were there Pat, how do you think that they'd be treated. Why is it that "ethnic cleansing" is considered throughout the world to be a bad thing, except when cleansing a country of Jews?

The relevant issue here is not Pat’s commentary. He’s essentially irrelevant.

It’s that the PM of a “friendly” country, one which the US has indeed supported at considerable cost, would make such remarkably disrespectful comments.

Does anybody here care to defend Olmert saying such things about an American President and Sec of State? True or untrue?

Some Jew must have driven by Pat on the street when he was younger and splashed his jackboots with mud. I’m not sure how else to explain his rabid anti-semitism.

Olmert has been indicted. He has as much credibility as Blago.

It seems that Buchanan is actually Olmert’s poodle.

Oh yeah. Unterfuerer Buchanon probably has a list of all Jewish women and their offspring...wonder if he'd light the fires for the bread ovens and the gas Chambers...wonder if he'd dig the ditched for the Kraut fifty calibers...or slam the train doors shut and shoot stragglers? he's lost it...believes in "replacememt" theology I guess.

Pat Buchanan may be a good Roman Catholic.

By his words he reveals himself as someone who hates Jesus Christ.

Mat 25:40 "The King will answer and say to them,
'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to
one of these brothers of Mine, {even} the least
{of them,} you did it to Me.'
May Pat one day seek his salvation in YHvH.

Olmert did make the statement. But anyone competent on Israeli politics, ie not someone who uses the word Likudnik to talk about people other than members of the Likud and one who can find Israel's capitol on a map, would know the following:
Ehud Olmert is a corrupt and incompetent politician trying to create any legacy, before he is arrested at the end of his term.
2. Olmert is known for making grandiose statements and outright lies at rallies.

Finally, Buchanan, who is not known for his historical accuracy, should have done some fact checking.

U.S. officials dispute Olmert's claims

WASHINGTON, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's claim that he got the U.S. government to abstain on a U.N. measure on the Gaza crisis was untrue, officials said.

As Israel entered the third week of its Gaza blitz

If Hitler blitzed Poland at the same blazing speed, and with equal care and concern, how many months (years?) would it have taken the German Army to capture Warsaw?

Och, Pat; I hardly know ye!

” Olmert’s frustration with Rice is personal. Today he was not shy about airing this irritation in explicit terms:

She was left shamed. A resolution that she prepared and arranged, and in the end she did not vote in favour,” Olmert said in a speech in the southern town of Ashkelon…

In the night between Thursday and Friday, when the secretary of state wanted to lead the vote on a ceasefire at the Security Council, we did not want her to vote in favour,” Olmert said. “I said ‘get me President Bush on the phone’. They said he was in the middle of giving a speech in Philadelphia. I said I didn’t care. ‘I need to talk to him now’. He got off the podium and spoke to me.

I told him the United States could not vote in favour. It cannot vote in favour of such a resolution. He immediately called the secretary of state and told her not to vote in favour.”
