As I look back over the last eight years, I am filled with pride in my husband and his accomplishments.
When George and I met, I fell in love with a man who is gracious, humble and sincere. And the qualities that I liked most in him are the same characteristics that have served our nation well in challenging times.
George is a man with a heart for people. He is a loving husband and devoted father. He has great inner strength, which has allowed him to make the difficult decisions a president faces - not because they are popular, but because he believes they are right.

I’m going to miss them.
Thanks for the post.
I have had my disagreements with him, but he has been my favorite CIC.
Thank you Mr. President.
I’m going to miss the ranch.
I’ve often wondered about the First Ladies in history. And especially Mrs. Bush.
How do you keep your poise and restrain from defending your loved one from vile attacks.
Mrs. Bush did make a comment about the shoe throwing incident. But it was mild.
I wouldn’t make a good First Lady. I am no politician.
Mr. President and Mrs. Bush... if you happen to stroll into Grimaldi's off McKinney Avenue... you can share my table and I'll offer you a couple slices and a Coca-Cola to go with ;-)
I can’t wait until the caca hits the fan for the delusional democrats.
I respect W. I sincerely believe everything Laura said, and I don’t think given the circumstances, anybody could’ve done a better job than he.
There is no doubt that the Bush’s brought honor and class back to the White House. Those are some good souls.
A classy couple!
What a class act! Said so well.
I am one who has appreciated, trusted and supported this man. And I continued to suppport him, even though I disagree vehemently with his stand on spending, party leadership, immigration, and most of all, bipartisanship (translated as: WE lay down and congenially let YOU, to whom we have just extended a hand, cut off that hand, kick us in the balls, then once more for good measure in the teeth when we are down. After THAT, we apologize to YOU because it was our fault in the first place.)
But I have nothing but respect and gratitude for him when it comes to two important things to me:
Firstly, for all his faults, I will always be grateful to President Bush for bringing the Presidency back to where it should always have been, from a behavioral standpoint. He restored class, maturity and sobriety to the office.
Say what you will about his conservatism (which was lacking in many areas) but his ethics were strong.
I was so glad that, for the last eight years, I didnt have to get up each day and wonder what flavor of corruption was tainting the office of the Presidency. I didnt have to wonder who was preforming sexual acts on him under a desk, who he had groped, who he had sexually abused, who he had extorted money from or taken money from for political favors, and who around him was corrupt enough to harm our national security or political process for a handful of whores silver.
We didnt have to consider ANY of those things for the classy First Lady either.
And the people GWB surrounded him with were largely clean of the stain of corruption and graft.
We may have disagreed with his policies, but we didnt doubt for a second that they were there to do their jobs.
I know this for a fact because if there had been anything that the media and other liberals who suffered from BDS that they could have dug up, there is no doubt they would have, because they tried like hell.
Secondly, I appreciate his job as a Commander in Chief. I think he did a fine job, and the fact that the vast majority of the troops think he is a heck of a guy is proof of that to me. The military people I have had the opportunity to speak to personally are extremely supportive of him. Plus, he kept us safe.
He showed people in the Middle East he was a man of his word. When he said he was going to do something, he did it. None of this drawing a line in the sand, then backing up three feet and drawing another one.
Too bad he didn't have the guts to stand up for the American taxpayer instead of siding with corrupt Mexican gov't officials and all manner of illegal immigrant enablers.
We will have lost our country in a few years (CA is already almost gone) and it will be hollowed out because of his inability to stop the illegals.
I agree he is a good man, but he let his heart get in front of what was best for our country.
We sure have, and they will be a hard act to follow.
I couldn’t agree more. Don’t forget Ramos and Compeon.
Still, though, Laura conveniently forgot her two fellow Texans in prison, former agents Ramos and Compean.
No, it is not ethical to allow those agents to remain in solitary confinement for so long for a minor offense or no offense. He is doing that to back up his friend, the prosector.
I hurt for Ramos and Compean and their families.
