More lasts today
This morning President & Mrs. Bush departed the White House for Camp David, Maryland, where they will spend their last weekend as the First Couple before Tuesdays inauguration.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice gave her final press conference today at the State Department in Washington. She also met with Israels Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni. Dr. Rices last official act as Secretary of State was signing a memorandum with Foreign Minister Livni that will help prevent arms smuggling to terrorists in Gaza.
And today Press Secretary Dana Perino delivered the Administrations final press briefing (Transcript). Dana took time to pay tribute to her predecessor Tony Snow and to all the members of the White House press staff. But one name was conspicuously absent from her remarks.
Q Dana, you mentioned Ari and Tony, but I don't think I heard you mention Scott. Was that a slight or was that -- was anything deliberate --Dana: No harm meant, I just didn't mention him.
What did you think of his comments [on MSNBC] last night?
Dana: I didn't bother watching them.
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island
The last sprig on our branch of the family tree is just as airhead on politics as your daughters.
Sorry, but I figure they all deserve soon to be President Obama.
And we deserve him because we failed to act together soon enough to defend the organs of propaganda and schooling in this country from far left wing control. And then we wasted a lot of time and energy arguing with each other about how many angels can fit on the head of a pin.
We are now reaping the whirlwind.
For sure and for certian! But 1stly, since He’s Christian,He’ll never walk alone in that way.

Another last today :(
Another last today :(
What a welcome sight he and Laura have been, especially after the long 8 years of the the Clintons and all that they put the country through. President and Mrs. Bush brought class and honor back to the White House. They will be missed.
I can’t quite agree totally with you on that. Our girls are in the 40s ( thier dad is quite a bit older that I and I inherited them and raised them) and they had the benefit of living with us long enough to know how we think and why we think the way we do. But they became vicims of Oprah..I nearly lost my mind when two visited last year and every other word out of their mouths was “ but according to Oprah..” to the point that when they started that remark again I cut them off with ‘Here we go again with the Gospel according to Oprah: Do you listen to or read anything else?
We can only do so much but they have free will to make stupid decisions. And they did.
Jonny, your talent is just amazing. That’s a very affecting drawing, of President Bush walking with the two soldiers who’d each lost a leg in the war. Thank you so much for sharing your drawings with us over these years.
I’m typing this post from a hotel room in Memphis . . . tomorrow hubby and I will drive through Arkansas (we may stop by Clinton’s Library for chuckles) then onward to Dallas where we will spend the night before driving to Midland — we’re having a blast!
Time to get some rest before we get back on the road tomorrow . . . night all.
You can order Papa John’s online, too. I kind of hate their pizza, but I love their bread sticks.
