PHILADELPHIA -- Artist Andrew Wyeth, who portrayed the hidden melancholy of the people and landscapes of Pennsylvania's Brandywine Valley and coastal Maine in works such as "Christina's World," died early Friday. He was 91.
Wyeth died in his sleep at his home in the Philadelphia suburb of Chadds Ford, according to Hillary Holland, a spokeswoman for the Brandywine River Museum.

I didn’t know he was still alive, when he was. I think many of his paintings are very good. I saw the “Helga” pictures when they were a big deal, probably in Washington, D.C.

I lived in Chadds Ford a long time ago, his works are everywhere. And ar now a lot more valuable than the already were.

Late 80s? I saw that exhibit as a young teenager. Pretty impressive.
Prayers for Andrew Wyeth, RIP.

My ex-mother-in-law, resided in Lancaster, PA, and has about 7 of his paintings, not prints. I guess the old witch’s net worth will now increase exponentially.
And she is a witch, she used to fly O’Cedar airlines.

Is he related to N.C. Wyeth?
To: mockingbyrd
Andrew Wyeth was N.C. Wyeth’s son.
I guess all that time over at the Koerner’s with Helga paid off after all. Rest in peace.

Late 80’s sounds right. I think I was home from college for the summer.

I just assumed that he had died a long time ago because I hadn’t seen any new work by him for ages. I loved his fine, very evocative (and somehow very American) paintings.
Prayers for him and his family.
