South Carolina Seeking To Outlaw Profanity
Slash Dot ^ | January 14, 2009 | MBG Morden

"It looks like in an act that defies common sense, a bill has been introduced in the South Carolina State Senate that seeks to outlaw the use of profanity. According to the bill it would become a felony (punishable by a fine up to $5000 or up to 5 years in prison) to "publish orally or in writing, exhibit, or otherwise make available material containing words, language, or actions of a profane, vulgar, lewd, lascivious, or indecent nature". I'm not sure if "in writing" could be applied to the internet, but in any event this is scary stuff."

I fully support a law limiting Lindsay Graham from using saying, broadcasting, or publishing profanity (or anything else).

Whether proven or un proven whether Obama is eligible they have already done that with Berry becoming the 44th President.

Over 8% unemployment — behind Michigan, California and Rhode Island.

What problem would you rather fix? Cussing or jobs?

Somebody never learned their US Constitution, 1st Amendment.

Let’s give him the benefit of the doubt, maybe he was out with the flu on the day that was taught?

The Supreme Court pushed the issue back down to the local courts — community standards.

A) South Carolina law makers are gonna have to claim the entire state is one community.

B)This will mean outlawing so-called adult content on cable television, movie theaters, video stores, and newstands.

This is going to be a hugely expensive undertaking at tax payers’ expense.
