Unprecedented inaugural celebrations for President-elect Barack Obama by gay activist groups, social organizations and ordinary citizens suggests many view Obama's election as a signal of a forthcoming sea change for the gay rights movement in America.
The Rev. Gene Robinson, a gay Episcopal bishop, will say a prayer at an inaugural event at the Lincoln Monument on Sunday; a gay and lesbian marching band will take its place in the official presidential parade; and a slew of gay parties and inaugural balls will be held in the nation's capital before and after Obama takes the oath of office.
But the gay-themed events have some conservative critics expressing concerns that while the celebration may be gay-friendly, it won't be family-friendly.
Jennifer Giroux, founder and president of Women Influencing the Nation, a group that focuses on restoring traditional family values, said, I think (the) inauguration should be kept away from that. Christians may love the individual, but they are offended by the gay lifestyle. Its unhealthy spiritually, emotionally and physically.

Obama to End Policy of ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ President-elect will allow gays to serve openly in the military, incoming White House spokesman says
If you want to see approval ratings in the single digits, he needs to do this.
Didn't Rome go down this very path?
(Cue "Sandstorm" techno song)...
Personally, I’ll enjoy it if the inaugural thing down Pennsylvania Ave. turns into a gay pride parade. Will knock O’s approval rating down a good 15 points on his first day (assuming the networks don’t censor it all out).
Cute.
Re: another thread about the gay-dar of gays.
What’s the skinny from the gays’ gay-dar on the prez?
In Downtown Minneapolis, they’ll be packing them in at the Gay 90’s bar on Hennepin.....
THEY SURE DID...
A lot of comparisons have been drawn between ancient Rome and modern America.
Dr. Carle Zimmerman in 1947 wrote a book called Family and Civilization. He studies the decline of several civilizations and empires. He discovered eight patterns of domestic behavior that signaled the decline of a civilization:
1. The breakdown of marriage and rise of divorce.
2. The loss of the traditional meaning of the marriage ceremony.
3. The rise of Feminism.
4. Increased public disrespect for parents and authority in general.
5. Acceleration of juvenile delinquency, promiscuity and rebellion.
6. Refusal of people with traditional marriages to accept their family responsibilities.
7. A growing desire for and acceptance of adultery.
8. Increasing interest in and spread of sexual perversions (homosexuality) and sex-related crimes.
See any parallels in modern America? Maybe we should be listening to Rep. Kern a little more carefully.
Every historian even modern homosexual revisionists admit that Rome was riddled with homosexuals. Hadrian, one of the best emperors, traveled the empire with a youthful lover, Antinous. Caligula and Nero were accused of having sex with just about anyone or anything.
Will he let the gays hug his kids?
The funny thing is Obama is against gay marriage and a big reason Prop 8 passed in California was all the blacks who voted against it.
My friend is working on some of the descriptions of the anti christ and how it fits with Obama. It is scary how easily you can fit it for him.
Meant voted for it.
I don’t believe Obama is agaisnt Gay Marraige, he just said that to appease many Christians when he was in Rick Warren’s Church.....
He said whatever he had to in getting himself elected.....
No doubt he will signal in the Antichrist, as he ruins this country....
I wonder is the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence will be marching in the Inaugural Parade. You all know them......they are the obscene gay guys dressed as nuns every year in the SF Gay Pride Parade. What an embarrassment this new President already is.
It’s so disgusting...Gay Parade at the Inaugural....
I am sure the Founding Father’s are rolling over 100 times in there graves with this one!
I don’t know; during the campaign he knew enough to not touch the issue with a ten foot pole. While I’m sure his administration will be packed full of people who would love to expand gay rights; he’s also smart enough to know it’s a loser of an issue.
