This could have easily escalated into an severely ugly incident, but...
President Bush reaches into the scrum and rescues his own lead agent.
The President then calmly readjusted his shirt cuffs and escorted our First Lady into the hall.
President Bush never lost sight of the historical import of his actions as commander-in-chief and, like Washington before him, he never failed to honor the troops he led.
President Bush fist bumps with an Air Force Academy grad.
With his Army troops.
Comforting and encouraging troops on a plane bound for Iraq.
With his Marines.
And his sailors.
I LOVED the way he handled that incident! It was awesome
and was an insight to his courage under pressure!
i loved this scene! It sure isn’t the Hildebeast asking the Marine guard to serve ouer’doerves!!
In my lifetime, I've never witnessed a President who would repeatedly turn the other cheek and restrain his darker angels and maintain good will, amidst the most constant, despicable and humiliating personal attacks and low blows from his opponents AND his own side ... without resorting to nastiness or spiteful responses .. because preserving the honor and dignity of the Office means so much more to him than personal retribution.
He is truly the epitome of faithful Christian. He walks with goodness and nobility in his heart and a desire to be pleasing to God in his soul (and I know he is). If anyone wants to see an example of good parenting and upbringing, they only need to look at George and Laura Bush. Clearly, their parents raised them right, and they have passed along that parental legacy to their daughters.
The man has been mocked and demeaned all over the world, and yet never fails to be gracious and respectful, even to sloughing off with his typical humor, the vile ignominy of a shoe publicly thrown at him (a particularly grievous insult in Iraq).
In my lifetime, I will not again see a President who has such a heart for others, most especially our incredible military and their families, yet is so fiercely steely and intractably resolute in upholding his solemn duty to protect America and our troops and hunt down our evil enemies relentlessly, 24/7.
Wolfie ~~ Thank YOU so much for all the great memories and pictorial delights.
I'll never forget so many, many moments of these last years, not the least of which is the video of his actions in the fracas in Chile with the SS Agent, Nick
Calm, decisive, cool .. get-r-done George W. Bush. Imagine .. such machismo in South America! Yes, he stands uniquely brave in protecting his own.
And just as notable are his perpetual good humor, hugs, optimism, tender heart, deep love and great affection for his wife and family, and his rascally comic side. Sure, he wasn't an elocutionary marvel, but his actions always speak louder than his choice (or mischoice) of mere words, and no .. we won't see his likes again.
I do believe that the main reason he ends his time in office in such good mental and emotional health and spirits is the abiding love and devotion of Laura. She's been his anchor, his comforter, his darling love and true partner. Though he's visibily aged, without her and her support, I don't see how it would've been possible to survive the huge challenges and stresses that he has so well. They surely would've crippled a much weaker man.
With God's mercy, she, along with his loyal circle of family, friends and colleagues have helped keep him calm and anchored and his life in balance, thank God.
My last wish for him in office is that, on or before January 20th, he gets the news and makes the personal announcement that the repulsive coward, Osama, has been destroyed or captured. I have no doubt he will be, but how great would that closure be?
We've been incredibly ... almost miraculously blessed .. that he's been our President in these times. I thank God for he and Laura in our White House. They represented this country with grace, compassion and honor, and made us exceedingly proud.
As he goes happily back home to Texas, he can have full peace of mind and with his head held high, knowing he honored and kept his solemn oath, and the decisions he made were made for the sake of his country, not for any personal or selfish interests. In that, he does stand uniquely alone in recent Presidential history.
No, we'll not see their likes again in my lifetime. I'll hold onto the golden memories of this uniquely wonderful couple and be so very grateful that I was blessed to witness these two incredible patriots and good people, with great decency and class in our White House. Thank you dearly, God.
