SOUTHPORT, CONNECTICUT, January 15, 2009 - Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE: RGR) is pleased to announce the new Ruger Lightweight Compact Revolver (LCR), an evolution in revolver design. The 13.5 ounce, small frame, 5-shot LCR has three main components: a polymer fire control housing, an aircraft quality aluminum monolithic frame, and an extensively fluted stainless steel cylinder. The Ruger LCR represents one of the most significant new revolver designs in over a century, with three patent applications pending.
The LCRs lightweight, chemical-resistant polymer fire control housing contains the entire fire control mechanism. Because the fire control components are located within this single housing, their dimensional relationship can be held much more closely than if divided between traditional grip frames and cylinder frames. The end result is that the fire control components are assembled with no hand fitting, resulting in a highly consistent product at an affordable price.

Looks interesting. Don't know that I'd buy one.

Price?
Calibers?
When available?
To: NoControllingLegalAuthority
Don’t know. They didn’t say. The design is too new for me. I prefer something with a little time under its belt.

.380. Available now. They were having a few issues as of Sept/Oct, but I believe they’ve been resolved.

Hey Gun Club!
I’m not all that knowledgable about guns, but I was looking at buying a S&W M&P 9mm pistol. Any opinions about that?

Dont know. They didnt say. The design is too new for me. I prefer something with a little time under its belt. I waited a while to get the LCP for my wife and then within a week there was a recall.
This looks like a nice revolver, though I greatly prefer S&W revolvers to the Rugers.

IMO,
You can’t go wrong with a S&W. The ten or so I have owned/own have been nearly perfect.

I've seen something similar to it in our local gun shop. It seemed too light weight and I questioned the kick back from firing it. It used 38s as well as 357s. Like you, I would be hesitant buying this one until it is proven. I prefer my Ruger SP101 357 Mag.

I know hammers can snag in a concealed carry gun, but I still prefer to have one anyway.
The weight never really bothered me on a small carry piece, I guess I am too old fashioned to ever like holding a plastic gun either.

"Is the cylinder designed for quick release?"I hope so, my two old Rugers don't and even for hunting it's slow to load and unload them.
