Far be it from me to sow discord in MSNBC ranks, to stir up old animosities between colleagues there. But if Joe Scarborough is going to do a mocking imitation of Keith Olbermann in full Special Comment rant, well then, blogging ethics compel me to report it.
The jumping-off point on Morning Joe today was Eugene Robinson's current WaPo column. After claiming that he didn't want to kick the president on his way out the door, Robinson proceeded to do just that. The columnist described a variety of measures adopted by the president in prosecution of the war against terror as "departures from American values and traditions." Robinson recommended an investigation if not a criminal prosecution. That led Pat Buchanan and Scarborough to cite, chapter and verse, the ways in which Bush's supposed abrogation of "American values and traditions" were small potatoes compared to the actions of predecessors including Lincoln, Wilson and FDR.
Without mentioning the Countdown host by name, Scarborough closed with an unmistakable impression of Keith Olbermann in pompous Special Comment peroration of the sort that can be seen here:

Just love the folks who want us to adopt the values and standards of people who behead innocent people, bomb busses, torture at whim, blow up universities.
No doubt in my mind whose values I cherish. The values of the Bush administration.
I love the way Mica turned her back on Joe and wouldn’t look at him when she spoke. Its her little liberal way of saying, “I am doing my faux-liberal outrage against George Bush and you have to let me be right!”
Nobody knows and cites history better than Pat Buchanan. He and Joe were awesome on this segment
It’s easy to see who the Bimbo has as a Father. I wish she would move to the great Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and see how free she would be.

he was amusing.
I luv NB!
NB is one of my first stops on the Algore Superhighway!
It’s funny. And not so funny. Back in 1917, Germans were a plurality in the city of San Antonio, TX, and they were treated like dirt by many of their “English” neighbors. My grandmother was so offended that there after she feared to speak German in public. The German cultural institutions gradually went to pot and my cousins were ashamed to learn English. This all apart from the locking up of German nationals by the federal government on mere suspicion.
By contrast, Muslims have been handled with kid-gloves.
Thanks, TC: welcome to the list!
Correction: My cousins were ashamed to learn German.
I’d just like to know who killed the secretary at Scarborough’s office back in September of 2001....
bump for later
Just wait Eugene... cause we are going to kick Obama as he’s coming in the door and every step of the way. Payback is a real bi%#ch. Obama will get the same respect from me that you all gave to President Bush.
Robinson will be the first media whore to be beheaded by the Taliban when the take over America. Just hope I’m alive to see his last moment!
Robinson has been kissing up to Obama since day one. Obama is wet behind his big ears. The junior senator from Illinois who spent his entire term running for president is clueless. His messiah will be a one term loser president once the sheeple wake up see that Joe the Plumber was right on.
