HOUSTON (AP) President George W. Bush told a group of Texas reporters Friday that he regretted immigration policies were not reformed while he was in office.
"I'm very disappointed that it didn't pass," he said in an interview with correspondents from his home state. "I'm very worried about the message that said, 'Republicans are anti-immigrant.'"

You can’t just disagree with his positions, you have to get down in the gutter like the left and name-call. If he’s trash what in the hell does that make you?
You got that right - we’re doomed and it sucks.
Bush budget scraps 9,790 border patrol agents, Feb. 9, 2005
The sad thing is that the GOP led congress authorized $200M for border enforcement in ‘05 and the Bush administration refused to use most of it.
Bush has destroyed the GOP.
Build the wall. How big a gummit agency should we build to round up Mexicans and shovel them back across the Rio Grande? How long will they stay there? 24 hrs? How would a Governor of TX ever know anything about immigration?
Let the name calling begin. Anybody notice how the immigration brigade will never discuss and only yell and name call?

Funny. Liberals threaten to leave. Conservatives who can “will” leave.
How many times did Jorge campaign with Juan McNitwit?
How many times did Bush say anything bad about the O?
Blaming the messenger never works.
The GOP sucks and will continue to lose until they embrace Conservative principles ... and if they don't they they go the way of the Whigs. Rat lite is foolish.
Sadly McCain would have shoved immigration down our throats also...thus ensuring a permanent Dem majority. We can’t win.
In the coming chaos inflicted by the Demopublicans it won’t matter. This system is coming down.
I think we need immigration reform, however I was unimpressed with Bush's amnesty plan. Bush compounded the error of having a poor plan with an even worse sales job. I am quite certain I am not the only one to whom the line of “jobs Americans won't do” came across as condescending and racist.
I believe Bush could have gotten immigration reform passed, if he had been willing to compromise with his critics (minutemen et al) and had someone talk to regular Americans to find out what rhetoric would actually sell it.
I’d much rather have an overly bureaucratic (though still effective) federal agency that ensures our border security and immigration process is followed than most of the other crap the feds waste our money on, including the war in Iraq. Bush’s perfromance on ILLEGAL immigration and border enforcement has been both pathetic and shamefull.
And the legacy we are facing is the legacy you and Juan gave us, Jorge.
"Immigration laws?! We don't need no stinkin' immigration laws. Pass the tequila!!"
You can’t get enough votes with YOUR conservative litmus tests.
That makes you politically irrelevant. Get it? That’s what gave us Obama. NOT ENOUGH CONSERVATIVE VOTES.
Don’t blame GWB for your own foolishness.
No need for mass roundups. Just cut off the welfare freebies, fine illegal-hiring employers, and then watch the mass exodus back across the border.
And how many of these farmers should we put out of business? All of them?

Oh and when you have to make wide sweeping statements about your position you are usually WRONG!
W killed the Reps party and most likely led to the destruction of the Country by the 0. That is the fault of people like you who supported him blindly these last three years.
So, are you sit there and cry or stand up and fight?
