President George W. Bush will give a farewell address to the nation Thursday night, billed by the administration as a chance to reflect on his tenure and welcome Barack Obama without fighting old battles one last time.
Bush will deliver the speech, expected to run 10 to 15 minutes, from the ornate East Room of the White House. He will have a small audience of people in the room, chosen for their stories of personal courage.
White House press secretary Dana Perino said Monday that Bush will "uphold the tradition of presidents using farewell addresses to look forward ....
*snip*
Perino said the speech will be the last scheduled public event for Bush as president until he appears on the North Portico to greet Obama on Inauguration Day, which is Jan. 20.

Shirley we can go a hundred more. We can talk about Agatha Christie.
I did miss that-sorry. I could say something...like the right one is out there blah blah. This would be true, but not comforting right now.
I had an ex-fiancee that cut my brake line; luckily she cut it all the way so the brakes didn’t work and I hit the car behind me trying to get out of a New York City parking space...she had red hair (gingers have no soul). A few months later I met my wife. On our first date, I took her to see Fatal Attraction...hadn’t read the reviews...With a beginning like that it was meant to be. Somewhere out there is the woman for you.
I have been with my wife 21 years...it sounds mushy, but we are still passionately in love. We met, and six months later we were married. Three kids, one dog and one cat later...life is good (remember the gerbil if off limits). LOL
Good night...
Well this is very important...no one should be Richard Gere...do you know how many times my wife made me watch An Officer and a Gentleman...I don’t know exactly, but it was lots...I wanted to hang myself like the poor sap in the movie.
Well, at the risk of killing the nice buzz on the thread, she was the right one, it was a nice little fairy tale that had a very sad ending, and I’ll just leave it at that. No one in the time since has ever come remotely close to being all things she was to me. I’m in my mid 30s, still never married and no kids now wondering if I’ll ever find someone even remotely close again... most good ones by my age are taken (as I found out with one who I was in school with recently, in fact, nearly all of them are married). You’re forced to go younger to find suitable candidates, so... Of course, I do the online thing, but that’s a nightmare. Several of the dating services said they had zero matches for me, even after I said race was no issue (as long as they’re attractive and have a pulse). AOL is a fallback, but that was a disaster, too. Cattle, gay men, children, lesbians, creepies, Satan worshippers, porno actresses, mamas looking for daddies for dey kids and worst of all, Democrats, are about all you can find. I could write a book on that mess. I’d just rather have my ex back... :-\
Yeow. Of course, you could “accidentally” tape over it with a football game. ;-D
I am truly sorry. Is there nothing that can be done to patch things up? This will strike you as funny. I met my wife in a bar...on Halloween. I was wearing my cool New York outfit...she thought it was a costume. We were taking out friends who had recently broken up with significant others...I have to say, I was attracted to her derriere at first. We started talking...we talked for hours even after the place closed...She was a Democrat (made a point of not dating Republicans)...I reformed her-got her listening to Rush, and she had one daughter by a previous marriage. My wife is a couple of years older than me too. In other words, you would not think we would make a match, but we did-complete with fireworks. What I am saying is date. Go out-don’t sit home. You might meet someone in a bar, church or the office-anywhere. Don’t rule anyone out before getting to know them. Take a chance. My brother in law married in his early 40’s; his wife is a bit younger and now has three children.
Not a bad idea...I like football.
I enjoyed our chat...the beach thread was a hoot...glad it’s back. Ping me and tell me how you are making out. I am off to bed. Good night.
I believe in fairy tales...by the way so I am going to pray that yours ends differently in the long term. Take care.
long since “retired” ;-)
FYI... Fox News Channel will be covering President Bush’s farewell speech Thursday night.
Thanks for the ping!
Of course, you could copy that extreme sports... or female mud wrestling... or even midget tossing. She’ll love that.
And you have mail.
Thank you. I hope so, too. G’night there.
Wha... uh... um... what’s retired ? Sorry, got a zillion posts in my ping box.
I gave him D+, 6 months ago before I even focused on the issue of the magnitude of his RINOism. He’s been turning in zeroes since then.
I’d rather watch that Grey’s Anatomy Crap, with it’s ghost sex.
But I’ll watch Bush and watch Hannity and (please insert that blond liberal) say a thrill ran up his leg.
“She was a Democrat (made a point of not dating Republicans)...I reformed her”
Excellent work.
I can believe it took my so long to realize what terrible RINO President he’s been. I think I had cognitive dissonance or something,
