Final presser of GW Bush,
begins somewhat jovial.

Had to post the thread to bash GW with posts 1 and 2, didn’t you? Pathetic. Reflects on your lack of character. That is a real BDS move. Pat yourself on the back you kicked him one more time. GW is ten times the man you could ever be.
They did try to get those in office but this was the first time a total black out on all the slime on OB was ignored.
Also more Democrats in the Sec of state worked on keeping false voter applications to allow more voting fraud.
In all my days I NEVER seen so many Democrats go to other counties and BASH our Country and our President.
We had an influx of people using the theory, voting for a Democrat to “get back at the Republicans... “ on FR
(What did that get us?)
There has been a continual flow of “Bash, discredit, and bemoan President Bush on FR.
The strong effort by the media to leave out all the Democrat wrong doings, including leaving out the “D” in congress persons identities.
I know I have left a lot out. But all these things can be credited to the down fall of the Republican Party.
Then there is the refusal of the Republican Party to STAND WITH THE PRESIDENT! I saw no effort, no media effort, a show of support, none.
I hear complaints about immigration with Bush, well, I am looking for the complaints to the Democrat side of this and see N O N E! Remember Kennedy, Clinton, and the big get together in D.C. ? Remember Mexican flags? HUH?
OH yeah, let’s all vote for the Democrats and show the Republicans just how we feel?
My heart aches for this country.
Mine really started aching when we nominated “the lemon” as our candidate. I knew it was over. Will conservatives learn a lesson?
I don’t know, pissant.
We NEED to look past the storm and see the foundation of our Conservative beliefs. I see a lot of the same attitudes the democrats use coming from Conservatives. I think we need to get on our knees for a while and remember to whom we serve.
I haven’t always agreed with his decisions, but I’ve never doubted his character.
I will miss him and Laura.
Pres Bush 9/11 quotes - have we forgotten?
We don’t need a “republican” president....we need a CONSERVATIVE President!!!
And God Bless President Bush and what he has done these last 8 years!! I am so thankful we didn’t get Gore or Kerry, or things would be way worse than they are now.
I can honestly say I believe GW Bush is a good man with a good heart and tried to do his best for what was right for this country. I’ve always said I support him 100%, about 85% of the time. And I believe HISTORY will show he is one of the greatest presidents we have had.
FYI - Bush has given the least amount of pardons than any other president in history.
I am grateful and I think W. was a good president, even very good. Illegal immigration was his blind spot regarding national security, though.
Conservatives try to smear him on the bailout but I think without it, there would have been a depression because all other industries rely on lending.
Ditto to all that you have said.
They asked him about Katrina and he gave a fiery answer about how the federal response was quick enough to save thousands of lives. He’s had a tough row to hoe the last four years.
I sympathize with those guys but they made one mistake that prevents him from pardoning them: they picked up their spent cartridges.
Obama's as white as he is black. :P (that really pisses off those racist voters)
Compared to what? Kerry? Gore?
Talk about damning with faint praise.
I think he's probably an okay guy but he was so, so wrong for this country on so, so many things. A partial list.
After taking an oath to uphold the Constitution he turned around and signed CRF saying "I think that some of this is unconstitutional but I'll sign it and let the courts work it out"? Huh?
He looked into Putin's eyes and saw his soul. Sheesh, I hope he was taking sleeping pills for jet lag or something and was suffering from temporary insanity.
He was way, way too loyal to friends and tried to give us Miers who is probably a nice lady but certainly isn't SCOTUS material and then called us sexist when we objected.
He tried to give us amnesty by another name and then called us racist.
He appointed some incredibly unsuited people and hung with them; I give you Paulson, Gonzales, Powell and Rice (and I know, to a certain contingent here on FR she's off limits for whatever reason but the fact remains she's done a miserable job).
Speaking of Gonzales has he been a friend to the 2nd Amendment? Hardly.
The growth of government has gone up more with Bush than during LBJ. Don't even think about the debt. Yes, he did have a rat congress part of the time but even that didn't put ink in his veto pen.
He talked today about how he should have focused on amnesty instead of reforming social security. Do you honestly remember him using the bully pulpit to sell SS reform? I try and keep and think I saw/read everything at the time and it was halfhearted at best. Certainly he didn't attack it with the same energy he did amnesty.
Did the department of education get reformed? Heck, did any government enterprise get reformed?
He kept us safe. He gave us two good justices.
He gave us tax cuts. True, only temporary but perhaps that was the best deal he could get. Sadly he then threw our country under the bus with the bailouts. We have been effectively socialized.
I could go on about the potential unfilled but that is what it is.
Is he better than what we'll be getting? Heck yes, by a country mile, but under Bush we went down the road to hell at a leisurely pace, able to see the sights along the way. Under Obama we'll get there so fast that we can't even enjoy the trip.
But at the end of the day we'll still end up in hell.
And parenthetically I worked for Bush both cycles and in no way do I dislike the man and in all ways he was by far superior to the alternatives. However his form of "compassionate conservatism" doesn't fit my form of "nasty, dirty, evil conservatism" and I will forever bemoan that one of our own did so much damage and damage that won't be reversed, ever.
Well said.
The bottom line is he kept us safe from another attack - don’t know how nor do I care but he did... I can overlook his shortcomings & YES he had many
