Down to single digits in his days left in office, President George W. Bush is warning the Republican Party not to become "anti-immigrant" as it regroups from defeat and retools its leadership.

"It's very important for our party not to narrow its focus, not to become so inward looking that we drive people away from a philosophy that is compassionate and decent," the departing president said in an interview broadcast Sunday, nine days before his term ends. "My call for our party is to be open-minded."

Yea, sad but true. The GOP really needs to invest seriously in recruiting and building up candidates that are both marketable and non-Liberal.

Forget a third party.

We need a second one.

Also, there is an important distinction between the propaganda phrase “anti-immigrant” (personal disdain for individual immigrants) and “anti-immigration” (opposing immigration as a policy). I am anti-immigration, not anti-immigrant.

Go crawl back under your rock and stay there!

You and Rove have destroyed the Republican party.

Too bad Bush did not do his Gore immitation back in 2000. We would have saved the last 8 years, not to mention the next.

Does Bush really expect the GOP to listen to him after he almost drove the party over the cliff? Why anyone would take the advice of one of the worst Presidents ever with record disapproval ratings is beyond me. Maybe we should keep reminding Bush what a failure he was.

I’m not anti-immigrant. I’m anti-illegal immigrant.

Good to hear. Then you should have nothing to complain about in about six months. ;^)

Forget a third party.
We need a second one.

We need a Conservative party, not a Republican party. They are not synonymous anymore.

This joker STILL cannot discern between anti immigrant and anti ILLEGAL immigrant.

This guy is the party leader and he still doesn’t understand that after 8 years in office.

Maybe he can take McCain with him when he leaves.

I’m sick to death with gutless politicians.

W, don’t let the door hit you on the ass.

I can’t BELIEVE it’s come to the point that this is my opinion of him.

Me too. I was a very large piece of shrubbery at one time, but I have just had enough.

“I think Washington and the left got to him.”

See if you can find the archived 2000 election threads...there was plenty of warning about Bush. Nobody “got to him”, he was already there.

Not when the suits running the GOP loathe conservatives as much as the 'Rats do.

Even losing's not enough to change the GOP's ways. We really do need a new party.

At first I thought it said that Jorge Bush was down to single digits in the polls. He probably can't stand the thought that he did not achieve the North American Union and the Amero for money. He probably can't stand the idea that there is even 1 manufacturing job left in the US.

I want to agree, but we did have that one good gun ruling. 5-4 in favor of keeping the 2nd amendment. From guys he appointed.

So he can’t be *all* about NWO. It’s hard to understand. Why come out all “immigrant”. Anyone with half a brain cell knows it’s about ILLEGALs.
