Thanks so much, daisy, for posting the Dose on this most momentous and unique day. You did a great job!

How special and historic: the first time a living former President has been aboard for the commissioning of the vessel in his name, and the current President in attendance is his son! I doubt the serendipity of this occasion will ever happen again in American history. How wonderful for
both Presidents.

What a glorious day ... what a first class, exemplary, dutiful and patriotic family. God bless them all .. God bless George H. W. Bush and Barbara Bush, whose sterling parentage produced such wonderful children, most notably our incredible leader for the last 7+ years, George W. Bush.
We have been so blessed that he was at the helm these last years. May they all always have fair winds and following seas.

God bless and protect the men and women of CVN 77 and their missions. Guide them always safely back to home base.

And, of course, the list of “lasts” for Pres. Bush is stacking up ... the last flight on Air Force One. Reality hurts.

It was so like them to visit and thank the crew. He and Laura are pure class.

(PS .. Don’t miss Gary Sinise on FNC now ... he’s a FANTASTIC supporter of our military .. and he’s showing his Iraq visits to the troops.)

Star, what great observations......yes, doubt will ever again see what happened today. The President must be SO proud of his Dad (I liked when 41 handed his walking stick to 43....the President, but, when all is said and done, his son)..and the Dad equally proud of his son.

and, ditto....may God always protect the men and women of CVN 77 and their missions.

I think Mr. Peanut was there for the commissioning of the USS Jimmy Carter (a submarine which seems to have disappeared from the news).

There’s another Bush who could well be a future President. Jeb would have been a candidate if his last name had been anything but Bush. I could well be on a thread promoting him in 2012 or 2016.

Have to wonder about the timing.

Did the navy perhaps speed up the preparations so that this ceremony could take place before President Bush left office?

Kudos to the navy if they did.
