President George W. Bush and his family traveled to Norfolk VA today to participate in the commissioning ceremony of the George H.W. Bush (CVN 7) in Norfolk, Va. Vice President Cheney and Mrs. Cheney also attended this event.
TRANSCRIPT OF THE SPEECH THE PRESIDENT GAVE. PLEASE READ. IT IS AWESOME.
SNIFF SNIFF This was the Presidents last scheduled flight on Air Force One as the sitting president
The President delivered his weekly radio address. In Focus: Defense.
Wonderful pictures. I have an idea that will make those of us who are going to miss President and Mrs Bush sort of be with them on the 20th. Rather than watch the inaug of The Dear Leader, I would rather spend the day looking back at all the wonderful photos that have been shared on this thread over this administration. That would be quite a task tp post this sort of archive but wow..to be able to see this dignified family again rather than the low class of characters that are going to sully the WH for 4 years I think would make many of us at least feel a little better..and perhaps we can bookmark the thread for morale during this next 4 year nightmare.
I think Mr. Peanut was there for the commissioning of the USS Jimmy Carter (a submarine which seems to have disappeared from the news).
There’s another Bush who could well be a future President. Jeb would have been a candidate if his last name had been anything but Bush. I could well be on a thread promoting him in 2012 or 2016.
I will miss this great president, as I know all of you will. He has brought honor to the office, conducted himself as a gentleman in the midst of the harshest attacks I have seen in my lifetime, and has done so much good for the country, which I hope will some day be appreciated.
I pray that he and Laura have a blessed and happy retirement, and that he lives to see his reputation restored in the public eye (it doesn't need restoring in ours, of course).
I am looking forward to the ceremony honoring John Howard and Tony Blair, and I hope they have some words for the press and the democrats.
Thanks again to all who have posted or contributed over the years. I haven't posted here very much over the last year, but I always check to see the pictures. Thanks again!
Of course President Bush is worried. He is leaving office without having finished the job though he did say years ago this was going to be a long war. I think his worries are not in vain as this idiot taking over his office is not dedicated to the security of this country and President Bush knows only too well what was wrong and what led to this attack on this country and the fact that this maggot is going to demolish all the security in place now is of grave concern for the nation. His knowledge of the attacks that have been averted are serious and he knows what they were and are and fears for the worst.
President Bush has done a wonderful job keeping our nation safe from attacks since 9/11 and he deserves great admiration and respect but he gets little gut vile aspersions cast upon him. Hope remains that history will be kinder to him. Funny about that though, as with Reagan history is now kinder since he is gone...it will be the same for President Bush I fear.
I hope there will be an address for all who are going to miss him and Larua to at least drop them a note from time to time to let them know how much they are missed.
I sent cards to them every year and got one back official WH card but still..
Not going to bother with the 0bama’s...they are going to show the world how low class they are..won’t take long/
You were smart to put then on a CD. I tried just saving the post, but when I went back to look at some of the earliest pictures, there was nothing but the red “x”. :-(
Me too. I was thinking this is the last time I can enjoy hearing that rousing tribute to the man who deserves it. From the 20th on, my remote will be getting a workout.
I am hoping that Eric Draper will publish a book of photos which I will certainly buy. (Eric Draper is the chief White House photographer, and has been there throughout the entire 8 years.)
I am certain also that there will be books published by the Bush Library, and I can’t wait until I am able to contribute.
I am going to give them the money I used to give to those ingrates at the RNC.
BTW, I love reading about your namesake. ;-)
thread bump
I will miss these photos and this man who along with the Vice President has given me hope that people in public life can really even in the 21st century serve the people not themselves.
Do they have a similar code name for the car he travels in and what happens if ge goes by train or do your Presidents never travel by train?
Thank you I am honoured to post the last dose with GWB officially still the President on the 19th January 2008

I am doing a review of 2008 you could view this instead I am aiming to get this up by 18th as 19th I am posting the dose.
Go to the Whitehouse website they have some great photos of the last 8 years I suspect though these will dissapear on 20th so save those quickly. They have photos going back to 2001.
daisy - what a GREAT Dose ! Fitting this commissioning took place while GWB is still president. Thank you!
We are saddened & sick over this change - can you imagine the military?
I am sure the new boy on the block will have many around him to cover up & smoothe over his inadequacies & of course the MSM will glorify & pontify a burp
Looking forward to your posting on the 19th Eleanor - The two 3 month presentations you have provided are awesome. The four of you should publish that book of pictorial history! Wouldn’t that be great to see in the GWB Presidential library store & on line?
Of course all the copyrights would be much work to sort out!
Please the four of you - check your FR-Mail?

:::
That was not mentioned, and I couldn’t say if a car has a code. I don’t think our Presidents travel by train, after election, altho they might stump during the pre-election period.
History Channel had a great piece on the AF1, telling about the staff - pilots, navigators, chefs, etc. They are quite a team by themselves. The AF1 is actually 2 planes, that sit ready, and are always waxed after flights, since they are photographed so much. And AF1 becomes AF1 when the President steps inside. Therefore, when flying together, AF1 is the plane carrying the President and the alternate plane is not.
Thanks, Snugs. I will do that. If I save them to a CD, they should last.
