Can’t this get discussed in the public, so that there is some back and forth about “stimulus policies”?

Peter Schiff is on shows and can be seen on YouTube. I saw an old man named Rogers, I think it was Jim, on a TV economic show via YouTube.

What other contrarians are out there?

I wouldn't give him so much credit for succeeding yet...

Decrease the Corporate Tax Rate equal to Ireland's.

Irland is losing their Dell plants to Poland this year. The WSJ article quoted an Irland government guy as saying that corporate tax rate of 12.5% alone isn't enough. There are also factors such as people make too much, regulation, and poor infrastructure.

Once again, barry boy know this. He knows it will fail. It's a way to accomplish his paybacks(and he has many to pay back), to organize the unions, give legitimate jobs to illegals with our tax dollars. The economy gets worse, even dire, then people have to depend on the government. He has this all planned out and he knows he has so much to do and so little time to do it. He has to move swiftly.

Uh oh. Don't tell the Atlanta Constitution-Journal.

The ‘FDR made Depression worse’ fantasy

By Jay Bookman | Friday, January 2, 2009, 08:49 AM

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

One the more remarkable aspects of the modern conservative movement is its eagerness to believe whatever it prefers to believe, whatever gives conservatives ammunition against their opponents, regardless of the facts and data and expert opinion.

The latest example of such behavior is the claim that FDR’s New Deal extended and deepened the Great Depression, a newly formed myth that is without any basis in fact. Yet it is embraced by some on the right solely because it bolsters their argument against policies proposed by President-elect Barack Obama.

Excerpt.

"The fact that the Depression dragged on for years convinced generations of economists and policy-makers that capitalism could not be trusted to recover from depressions and that significant government intervention was required to achieve good outcomes," Cole said. "

And this mindset has now been applied to recessions by liberals, many "scholars", the agenda-driven media and most frighteningly, the incoming administration. In other words: bailout mania.

How do we recover from what is looking more and more like a loss of faith in capitalism by a significant portion of the American public...a segment that believes government exists to "give them stuff" at no cost to them?

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not. Thomas Jefferson
Most bad government has grown out of too much government. Thomas Jefferson

A wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor and bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government. Thomas Jefferson

The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first. Thomas Jefferson

The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all. Thomas Jefferson

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them. Thomas Jefferson

To compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical Thomas Jefferson

>>>>>"Why the Great Depression lasted so long has always been a great mystery...

For some of us, there was/is no mystery. Liberal socialist policies DON'T work.

The New Deal didn't work and OBama's New New Deal won't work either. Just like FDR, OBama is pushing economic policy that calls for increases in public works expenditures. That agenda is called Keynesianism and it undermines what is at the core of capitalism --- private sector spending. And just like FDR, OBama WILL raise taxes. FDR's tax increases in 1936 made overall conditions worse and killed off any chances for sustained economic recovery.

The Feds should be cutting taxes and cutting spending across the board. Instead, the socialist mantra for more and more government spending is at the core of OBama’s agenda.

Having enjoyed several civil e-mail exchanges with Mr. Bookman, I can assert -- with authority -- that this particular tendency is his problem, not ours. Jay is, as they say, "projecting".

Unlike many liberals, he's a nice guy. But he's not, shall we say, "the sharpest knife in the drawer"...

If there’s a tiny little ray of hope, it’s that Congress is so tied up struggling over who’s going to get what in this giant package of freebees, that the bill may be so compromised as to have little impact, and the groundwork for the recovery may have been sufficiently established by the time they pass it that even their meddling can’t screw it up.

More likely the bickering will result in "something for everyone".

Republicans in Congress requested a debate and discussion on this, but Obama and the Dems are trying to use scare tactics to stifle discussion and any facts from getting through.

For every day we wait or point fingers or drag our feet, more Americans will lose their jobs. More families will lose their savings. I was reading an article in the WSJ, that stated that Obama's plans are straight out of Atlas Shrugged, that Obama's big government is like Atlas Shrugged in real time.

I doubt that Obama has ever read the book, so how 'bout if we all start sending him a copy, thousands of copies of Atlas Shruggedflooding his mail box on inauguration day? We could also write a new reality show entitled, "Atlas Shrugged".

“Obamas mission is to destroy capitalism and he will succed.

Just read the posts, many conservatives, or so they say, are supporting Obama and wishing for “Obama’s success”, not realizing that

1. Obama’s success is the achivement of his agenda, which is socialism, and:

2. “all that is needed for evil to succeed, is for good people to do nothing”.
