A Plowable Snowstorm all the way to New York City
For cities like New York and Pittsburgh, this could be the biggest snowstorm of the season so far. The storm has produced 3 inches of snow across Chicago Friday morning, resulting in over 200 flights to be canceled and extensive travel delays in and around the city. Gusty winds led to delays around New York City Friday, ahead of the storm.
The storm is still the development stages and only will grow stronger later tonight and Saturday causing heavier snow to develop. People across the southern Ohio Valley could experience a thunderstorm later tonight into early Saturday and it is that energy that will move north into the cold air mass lying across Pennsylvania into New Jersey, resulting in heavy snow. At times, the snow will come down at the rate of 1-2 inches per hour, resulting in quick covers of snow on roads and extremely poor travel.
Pittsburgh will be the first to get hit followed by New York City and Boston later on. Each of those cities will get close to 6 inches of snow, making this the biggest snowstorm of the season.
They closed the airport with three inches of snow? I thought they could keep that level of snow clear off the runway. Is there a lot of ice on the runway?
I am all ready in Pittsburgh. Got a bottle of Vodka, tonic water and the DVD of John Adams to keep me warm tonight.
Last I heard they were predicting between 5 and 9 inches for New York City.
You better have that field cleared when my sunny San Diego Chargers play in Pitt sunday.
9” by 2:00 P.M. in parts of WI. Waiting for another couple inches to be dumped on us during rush hour and overnight.
Bush is getting his lack licks in using his Weather Machine!!!
Quick, everyone...rush to the supermarket! Buy all the bread, batteries and bottled water your car can handle! Gas up your car even if you have 3/4 of a tank! After all, here in New England, we were once snowed in for almost a week...30 years ago.
looks like all nyc got was about 2 inches.
