The Nov. 6 Reuters headline, "Media bias largely unseen in U.S. presidential race," was laughable because almost everyone saw it. American voters by an 8-1 margin said they witnessed a pro-Obama press, and even Time's Mark Halperin said the "extreme pro-Obama coverage" represented a "disgusting failure of people in our business."
Sadly funny examples galore make up the evidence. The most famous was MSNBC's Chris Matthews saying on Feb. 12 that when Obama spoke, "I felt this thrill going up my leg." But during 2008 other journalists fell in love:
New York Times reporter Michael Powell in January: "He has that close-cropped hair and the high-school-smooth face with that deep saxophone of a voice. His . . . words mine a vein of American history that leaves more than a few listeners misty-eyed."
CNN's David Gergen in August: "It was less a speech than a symphony. It moved quickly, it had high tempo, at times inspiring, then it became more intimate. . . . It was a masterpiece."
Time's Nancy Gibbs in November: "Some princes are born in palaces. Some are born in mangers. But a few are born in the imagination, out of scraps of history and hope. . . . He won because at a very dangerous moment in the life of a still young country, more people than have ever spoken before came together to try to save it."
The idea of Obama as savior of America, or redeemer, played out often, as in an Associated Press article about his Berlin speech: "Obama has raised expectations of a chance for the nation to redeem itself in a role thatat various times through historyEurope has loved, respected, and relied upon." One silver lining in the Obama victory was that it showed the inaccuracy of press assumptions like this one in an ABC question to Obama: "What do you think the bigger obstacle is for you in becoming president, the Clinton campaign machine or America's inherent racism?"
Meanwhile, just about every major news organization lost readers or viewers and announced substantial layoffs. Internet growth is the major cause, but a second reason is that journalists often did not ask hard questions. CNN's John Roberts sat down with Obama and said, "I want to stipulate at the beginning of this interview, we are declaring a Reverend Wright-free zone today. So, no questions about Reverend Wright. . . . Is that OK with you?" Obama replied, "Fair enough. That sounds just fine."
I didn't catch this. I have wondered for months if there isn't some guy out there who at least once saw Dateline USA who was the least bit embarrassed by all the sissified newsies extant.
Don’t forget shows like The View where I heard when the ladies besides Hasselbeck talk about Obama, its like Meg Ryan doing her orgasm immitation from When Harry meet Sally.
Talk about a monday morning quarterback statement by Halperin. Only now that Obama was annointed the presidency by the MSM, a few try to tone it down a bit and act like they can be unbiased. 4 years from now, no matter how much of an embarrassing disaster Obama has been, the media will all be there again fawning over him because he’s a liberal democrat, including Halperin.
An odd way of describing the Republic which is dying before our very eyes.
Read here last night that Alam Colmes complained about the New York Slimes being too pro Israel.
There are people living in a world of their own creation.
Obama didn’t come to praise America, he came to destroy it.
The Chris Matthews episode is iconic for the whole campaign. He'll pay for that for the rest of his life, and fairly so.
For the first time in my life, I think the Clintons had a legitimate beef. Considering that they are both unindicted felons who unjustly glory in every minute they're allowed to walk around free without repaying their debt to society, however, they'll get no sympathy from me. No sniffles for poor widdle Hee-a-Ree.
The media did a better job at vetting Joe the Plumber than they did at vetting Barry Soretoro.
Response: I use this statement each time someone tells me they are a supporter of "The Divine One." I ask them if when they think of "Him" do they have orgasm? Does their anal sphincter twitch and tremble? Response has varied from a cautious denial to cursing and swearing at me.
Reporter panties were flung often at Obama’s feet, and that was just from the supposed men of the press.
You are absolutely right.
Well what we do know now is had the Press done its job by throughly vetting Obama he would not be president today. The lack of Judgement this guy displayed in his short political carrer and the Chicago Way political system that he comes from is scary indeed and Americans would have roundly rejected him had the media only done their job.
So PRAVDA is alive and well in America I just hope they don’t shut down the alternative media.
Chris Matthews has so many equivalent events and pronouncements in his life that he is WAY beyond ability to be embarrassed. As for "paying for it," I doubt it until the entire MSM is out of business. Even then, there will likely be a "bailout" to make sure of survival for enough decades so I can't survive to see the glorious end.

This was the ONLY fun part of the last election cycle. Watching Hillary twist on the very hook and scaffold the clintons erected for their enemies was a treat I will savor.
I wonder if a baby in the process of being dismembered in the womb feels a "thrill going up his leg".
bump for later
