can absolutely see what Warren hoped to get out of this sordid little trip, the evidence of which he vainly tried to conceal when it threatened to become embarrassing. He wanted to be on video for his open-mouthed followers as he posed "on the road to Damascus." And he didn't care what deals he had to make, with Baath and Toothbrush Central Command, in order to bring off such a fundraising coup. But now it's the sandals of Obama that are being exploited by the same tub-thumper, and one has not merely a right but a duty to object to having as an inaugural auxiliary a man who is a pushover for anti-Semitism, Islamic sectarianism, "rapture" theology, fascist dictatorship, 10th-rate media trade-offs, and last-minute panicky self-censorship all at the same time.

2) God, can Hitchen wield a pen in a Dorothy Parker-esque way that just slices his targets to ribbons. Sheesh
Rick Warren is a phony Christian like Joel Osteen. Husters who sell books. Warren hooking up with an Islamic pro-abortion Indonesian fraud tells me that Warren is no Christian.
I think Chrissy was engaging in what is commonly called a hissy-fit.
Hitchens is a great writer, but he is also a Psycho. I think his problem is that he is a mean drunk and he is drunk often.
Confidence men extraordinaire.
Sucking up to the “human toothbrush” (LOL) dictator of Syria is indeed a problem.
Like Maureen Dowd?
I’m suspicious of most of the mega-pastors anyway.
It seems no matter how sincere and solid they start out in their faith, the vast sums of money and celebrity status invariably corrupt them all.
Joel Osteen, Benny Hinn, Paul and Jan Crouch, Creflo Dollar and the rest seem less concerned about preaching and following the Gospel than about enriching themselves on the backs of their trusting followers.
Naw. You have Chrissy “Make My Leg Quiver” Matthews confused with Christopher “Poison Pen” Hitchens.
I agree. Rev. Manning has a whole section on his web site about these hucksters. Manning’s youtube videos bashing Obama and Crefalo Dollar are hilarious.
Hinn and the Crouchs are among the worst con artists. I cannot stand Joel Osteen or his trophy wife who beats up stewardesses in first class.
But he’s still a great writer. He writes for guys who like to read.
My favorite: Reverend Ike
“If you want pie in the sky by and by, then you don’t want Reverend Ike. But if you want pie ala-mode with ice cream on top, then listen to Reverend Ike every Sunday morning”...
Not a Warren fan here...but even less of a fan of the God-hating Hitchens.
He is a human toothbrush! I always thought of him as Howard Sprague.
You probably haven’t seen the Rev. Roosevelt (Rosie-velt) Franklin, the ORIGINAL Georgia Prophet. He is a trip.
I wonder if their churches have kick-@ss bands like Bayside in Sacramento (Lincoln Brewster)?
In the interest of truth.....
Texas Jury rejects lawsuit against Joel Osteen’s wife
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

HOUSTON - The wife of megachurch pastor Joel Osteen did not assault a flight attendant in an angry tirade over a stain on her first-class seat, a civil jury unanimously ruled Thursday.
The jurors rejected the claims in a lawsuit filed by Continental Airlines flight attendant Sharon Brown, who had been seeking at least $405,000 for actual damages physical and mental pain as a result of an attack she alleged took place before the start of a December 2005 flight from Houston to Vail, Colo.
Hitchens doesn’t “hate God.” He just believes God doesn’t exist.
He might (and probably does) despise religious “reconstructionists” for their ideas.
I don’t mind kick@ss bands in church. As a matter of fact, there are a LOT of great Christian rock bands out there that are putting out songs ten times better than the crap the mainstream rock bands are doing, and they’re reaching millions of kids who really need to hear about Christianity.
What is sad is that all it takes is one huckster like Hinn or Dollar to turn off those people who are out there searching for real meaning to their lives. If they were truly men of God, they would be profoundly ashamed of themselves for what they’ve been doing.
