My Autocad I loaded on the old XP system. The Linux system is for ordinary stuff. I am totally fed up with Microsoft.

AVG Free is great and does everything you need. It’s free. There is a complete internet version for $54.99. I only use the AVG Free. The free version does system scans and e-mail scans. There is no spyware or adware embedded with the free version which is a plus as well.

Are you looking for firewall protection as well? The McAfee product I linked to ('Total Protection 2009'), not only includes a top notch firewall, but covers many other areas of PC security. Check out the details at the site.
Here is the link again:

You are right. That is why Dell had to offer XP again because all the people returning their equipment or demanding that Vista be removed!
Alot of People had AOL on their computers, doesn’t mean they like it.
Why do you think that Microsoft did their little Mojave Project thing? To convince people that Vista didn’t actually suck!
Are you being paid by Bill Gates?

When my son was in college, the university directed all students to AVAST and used it on their own systems.

The DRM in Vista - which adds complexity without delivering value - is what pushed me into Linux. Today my desktop is still XP-Pro, however, I do most of my real work vi NX remote desktop from it to Linux.
I've found NX is the perfect way to smoothly migrate from Windows to Linux.

Hmm.. Maybe by the time it's released, VirtualBox in Ubuntu will support loading it as a virtual machine and I can toy with it from within Linux.. :)
Seriously though, I installed Ubuntu about 4 months ago now and made a real effort to use it exclusively. It turns out that I can do nearly everything with it that I could with windows, and what I can't do, or won't work with WINE, I use VirtialBox to load a windows machine from within Linux. I doubt I'll ever install M$ on one of my home machines again as the base OS.

"Windows 2000 was originally supposed to be NT5. It was the most solid release ever."W2kPro was the absolute benchmark. NEVER crashed. Never BSOD. I loved that program.

Windows 7 will be market ready quickly. MS took XP and changed the background. Voila! Windows 7.
Joking.
To: redhead
I’m still using W2KPro on my home desktop.

Are you being paid by Bill Gates? Wow talk about hyperbole.
Nice to end you argument with something that wholly disqualifies you from further discussion.

What does the DRM stop you from doing? It stops me from utilizing the CPU cycles and disk capacity that it consumes to do the things that are important to *me*.
