Pelosi's Power Grab: Her Plan to Shackle the GOP
Newsmax ^ | January 7, 2009 | Jim Meyers

Posted on 01/08/2009 7:19:28 AM PST by conservativegramma

Republican Rep. Roy Blunt tells Newsmax that rule changes pushed through the House on Tuesday by the Democratic majority leave “the deck stacked to shove a Speaker Pelosi agenda through the House.”

The former Minority Whip from Missouri also declared that the changes are an “absolute contradiction to everything Barack Obama said” about nonpartisan politics during the campaign.

One change puts new restrictions on motions to “recommit” a bill to the committee that approved it in order to add new amendments.

The new rule allows the full House to reconsider a bill without delay, depriving the minority party of an opportunity to add its input on the proposed legislation.

2Ti 3:12-14 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

“The gutless foofs in the Republican party, wholly bereft of any gonadal mass could be easily shackled and subdued by great grandma Hermoine and her friend Mabel on a break from their knitting bee.”

OUCH! That is gonna leave a mark. LOL!

The Republicans ARE to blame for the destruction of the country. We gave them a chance to.... Wait, I’m wrong, worldly Christians are the blame for the destruction of the country. I’m a member of that group. LORD forgive me.

They’ll be failing an art of war rule:

Always leave your enemy a path of escape. A cornered enemy will fight all the harder and with less rationality.

This applies to the “boxes of democracy” as well. When they leave us with nothing but the cartridge box, that’s what will be used.

I think they should walk out and hold press conferences when the bills are bad. The Republicans have no ability to obstruct in the House.

In order to win back seats, the Dems need to take all the credit because it is going to hurt the American consumer in the end.

I would have zero respect for Republicans if they put their own agenda above what is best for the Country. Remember that every Congressman represents a District and some of those districts went Dem when that candidate went conservative. We need to be able to show in the 2010 election that those ‘conservative’ Dems are not only not conservative but are supporters of the left wing Pelosi. That is how you win elections — grassroots and getting good candidates that start today taking on the Dem in their district showing them not to be conservative but a puppet of Pelosi. No whining but action.

We had a Dem Congress during Reagan but in 1994 after Clinton was in office for two years we took back the House for the first time in many years. Contract with America was not based on social issues but on sound economics and doing what was best for America not an individual Congressman. Those voluntary three-term limits hurt us in the end and gave seats back to the Dems. Time to mobilize in those districts that have gone Republican and take them back.

Time for people on here to stop the whine and run for precinct chair so you have access to voter records and can spend the next two years checking your precinct to determine that every voter is legit. In Oklahoma after ACORN was here in my OK House District we found numerous fraudulent voters which were removed. It is up to the grassroots to start taking action.

Go to meetings of your Dem Congressman and ask questions, call their office to complain, etc. Take action starting today. Let their offices (local and DC) know you are watching every move in these districts that have gone Republican.

Most importantly get behind good fiscal conservatives that want to take the seat back. We have seen it here in OK that social conservatives do not make the best representatives. The conservatives who make the best reps are fiscal and social with emphasis on fiscal. Too many social conservatives get involved in social issues only and forget that we are supposed to be for limited government. All they care about is their agenda instead of what is best for their constituents. Inhofe and Coburn are big fiscal conservatives but also social conservatives but when you hear them talk it is about fiscal issues. People listen when it hits their wallets and we are about to see how bad it is going to get.

whether in control of Congress or not.

When not in power they throw temper tantrums, shriek, whine, lie, scream like banshee's and bang their heads until they get back in power. Democrats, especially liberal leftist ones are sewer sludge.

you’d damned well best remember that and crush the Rats instead of sucking up to them. It’s what they’ll do to you.

The problem is Republicans have values and morals at least try to. democrats are not interested in values, morals or anything else to hold them accountable for anything. They worship self and power. And, it helps dims that they have their own private *hore working for the them the lame stream media.

What can the Pubbies do? Don’t show up for the first day’s photo op. Issue press release instead, saying “It’s Obama’s fault”, and explaining the boycott. Vote ‘present’ or ‘abstain’ on every piece of legislationn except military budgets, tax cuts, veterans’ funding, etc. Hold a daily press conference on the steps of the House offering alternative programs to the ones being rammed through, explaining the differences. Blame the Dims for everything that doesn’t work out perfectly.

War to the knife. Knife to the hilt.

"Pelosi is showing you the way. Learn. When you get it back in 2010 . Do it right."

You're kidding right? You don't think the Pubbies are going to gain the majority in '10 do you? Let me tell you they are going to be on the outside looking in for a minimum, I say minimum of 50 years and even that's a stretch.

Don't forget that after FDR bought votes for democrats for 3 generations the only way the GOP becacme the majority was because Gingrich out smarted the demos, Reagan was still fresh in voters minds and there were still less than 50% of the voters that were not on the receiving end of government largess. I'm afraid there is no one of Newt's abilities, Reagan is a distant memory and will not even be known by the next generation of voters and since over 50% of the voters are now not paying taxes, in fact are on the net receiving side there is no incentive for then to vote out their care givers.

Sorry to sound pessimistic but this country, our liberties, freedoms and lifestyles that we took for granted are a thing of the past. The best we can hope for now is a benevolent tyranny, if there is such a thing and I don't believe there is.

This is a dumbass move on Nancy’s part. She’ll now have trouble getting GOP support on anything.

She may have the votes to pass legislation without it, but she knows that doing so has the potential to blow up in her face.

Case in point would be shamnesty. If they were to pass a bill with only RAT support, they would suffer big losses at the ballot box in 2010. (IIRC Nancy has already said that she wont do shamnesty without GOP support.)

Her chances of getting it now are not good. She may have shot herself in the foot.

This is Pelosi’s way of being more bipartisan, remember what she said last year - “But I do tell you that if the Democrats win, and have substantial majorities, Congress of the United States will be more bipartisan”.

As a voting citizen of the U.S., I believe this is unconstitutional. Sure, Congress has the right to make whatever rules it wants on how it conducts its business, but as a Republican constituent, I have as much right to full representation in Congress as a Democratic constituent. If they want to make rules, they should apply to all Congressional members. Republican constituents are not being properly represented in Congress if these rules take effect.

She may need to stay focused on trying to shackle the House Democrats. The little spectacle of Obama naming his CIA chief without telling Pelosi in advance, and then basically says “oops, sorry, guess we forgot about you” after she wailed in protest, does not bode well for her consolidation of power. Obama is a lot more popular than Pelosi, as well as having more formal political power come January 20. I’m sure the protocol breach wasn’t accidental, and I’m sure House Democrats duly noted it.

How many more states need to vote in favor of a constitutional convention? I think it is something like 3 or so. Push it through, nothing could be worse than 40 more years of a rat infested Congress. The Country needs a new playing field albeit it may be too late already.

Remember that reconsiliation message sent to George III. This would be the same. When it did not work, recall what followed.

Vince
