CNN's Kyra Phillips Unloads on Joe the Plumber

On today's CNN Newsroom, anchor Kyra Phillips let viewers know exactly what she thinks of Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, better known as Joe the Plumber. On the 2:00 PM (ET) segment she teased the story:

PHILLIPS: Oh, Lord, Joe The Plumber's got a new gig. It's got nothing to do with the pipes, it's got everything to do with Gaza.

And later again:

PHILLIPS: You've seen the last of this guy? Not. Now Joe The Plumber wants to flush out the truth as a war correspondent. I know, there are just no words. Stay here for details on his Middle East trip.

Minutes later she reported:

Hey, Joe, what do you know? No, seriously, what do you know? Since that whole plumbing thing didn't work out, I mean. Now, Joe Wurzelbacher is decamping to the Middle East. That's right, the plumber slash author slash singer.

His latest career gambit? War correspondent. He's going spend ten days in Israel reporting for the conservative Web site pjtv.com. And he says he hopes to air Israelis' views on the Gaza offensive. Lord, help us.

I have relatives in MN and the next time I travel to that stupid state, I am going to make copies of that picture, the one with the diaper, and tape it in every restroom, store, restaurant, etc. I happen to go into.

If that's the case then put this one up by its side:

I’m happy Joe got a break out of this whole business.

As for Kyra, well remember what Kathy Griffin said on New Years eve about how she don’t come down to your work and ...

Is Kyra the one who left her mic on, went to the bathroom, peed, then talked trash about her SIL all with the mic still on?

Oh yeah. Even by CNN standards Kyra Phillips is a dim bulb.

During President Bush's Katrina press conference, CNN's Kyra Phillips took a bathroom break and didn't realize that her mic was on.

While Bush attempted to reassure people that the federal government will be ready if another natural disaster happens, CNN watchers got to listen to Phillips in the bathroom zipping up and chatting about her brother and "control freak" sister-in-law.

Here is a rough transcript courtesy of Wonkette:

Highlights: The clip starts with what sounds like “ASSHOLES.” Then Kyra talks about, presumably, a boy of some sort: “No ego… you don’t understand., just a really passionate, compassionate human being. And they exist! They do exist. They’re hard to find—”

COWORKER: “Yep.”

KYRA: “But they… are out there.”

Thankfully, “Mom” seems to approve (“good vibe”)

Then, Kyra again: “Of course brothers hafta be, you know, protective. [ZIP] Except for mine. I gotta be protective of him. Ugh, yeah. He’s married, three kids, but his wife is just a control freak.”

Then the best part:

WOMAN: Kyra—

KYRA: Yeah baby—

WOMAN: Your mic is on.

ANCHOR: All right, we’ve been listening in to…

CNN has really been on their game lately. Last week, Wolf Blitzer interviewed the wrong person on live TV.

UPDATE: CNN apologizes.

UPDATE 2: Kyra Phillips appeared on the Late Show to deliver her Top Ten excuses for going to the bathroom with her mic on. You can view the video here.

This’ll scare ya...go to the CNN story and read the comments left by their fanatically loony left readers about Joe the Plumber. This kind of vitriolic hatred directed towards a common citizen, who wasn’t even running for office, seems....weird. What’s with these people and their hatred of Joe? All he did was ask a direct question of the candidate. Not even a hardball. Man, talk about p******.

"But if Joe was an ugly communist lesbian, then all would be well."

I'm not sure if all would be right with the world. But, his name would definitely Rachel Maddow and have an hour of programming on MSNBC.

It’s interesting that there seems to be no attempt to even attempt at hiding the b bias anymore.

I flipped the dial on the newshour the other day and heard that ass Schuster make a sidebar comment at the end of a news story about Scooter being arrested.

How does anyone even feign to be doing news with this kind of editorializing I don’t know.

MSLSD indeed.

It seems the glue is coming off the media as they realize the American people not only do not hold them in esteem, but they don’t really care about them either. The luster of being “in” is not holding up anymore with their jobs at risk just like other Americans.

C'mon. That's being a little ticky-tack on your part. Obviously it's a typo.

Everyone knows that's Swaziland.

Phillips was married to A. John Assad (presumably the husband she praised in her famous open-mic incident of August 2006). In April 2008, she stated she is not married, indicating a divorce sometime in between.

On August 29, 2006, during a CNN broadcast of President George W. Bush’s speech on the first anniversary of Hurricane Katrina’s landfall, Phillips’ microphone was left on while she was in the bathroom. Portions of a personal conversation were broadcast live for over a minute and a half, during which Phillips offered advice on men, criticized her sister-in-law for being a “control freak,” and praised her husband. The conversation audio was mixed with the President’s audio feed and both were discernible. Daryn Kagan broke into Phillips’ rant with an audio recap of Bush’s speech. CNN immediately apologized for the on-air gaffe.

On January 30, 2008, Phillips joked about making a “reverse oreo” with black co-host Don Lemon and white female colleague Gerri Willis. Phillips used the term with sexual overtones (stating, “yeah, good time”), much to the “visual embarrassment” of Willis.

July 14, 2008

During a segment on CNN’s “Newsroom” program on Monday afternoon, anchor Kyra Phillips voiced her clear objections to The New Yorker’s satirical depiction of Michelle Obama as a radical leftist and Barack Obama as a Muslim. “If I see this magazine cover, okay? And I mean, this is pretty racial. I mean, let’s look at it again. You’ve got Michelle Obama in an Afro. You know, you’ve got, you know, her husband, Barack Obama, in a turban. We’re talking about racism and terrorism. I mean, these are — and burning of the flag. These are the most sensitive issues in our country right now. If I see that, I’m going to think, oh my God, is this who we want in the White House?” She later asked the question, “Do you think in any way that this cover sets us back, that it’s more divisive than anything else and only proves that we’re still pretty racially insensitive?”

Jane Fonda shocked the world when she said “cunt” on the Today Show this year, but the actress finds herself topped today after CNN’s Kyra Phillips twice let the dreaded c-word slip while introducing Republican strategist Leslie Sanchez.

And yet the San Francisco Chronicle hires Sean Penn to offer his insights into the geopolitical problems of our world; and no one in the MSM derides the Chronicle or Penn.
