JERUSALEM, Jan. 7 -- When thousands of heavily armed Israeli soldiers poured into the Gaza Strip on Saturday night, Hamas pulled back.
Rather than stand and fight against the Middle East's strongest army, the Islamist movement opted for a tactical withdrawal, with its fighters melting away into the strip's sprawling cities and refugee camps, according to Gaza residents and Israeli military analysts and officers.
Now, Hamas appears to be daring the Israeli troops to follow.
"They're hitting here and there with antitank missiles and mortars. Overall, though, they're not confronting the Israeli presence in Gaza," said retired Gen. Amnon Lipkin-Shahak, former chief of staff of the Israel Defense Forces. "They're challenging the Israeli military to enter the built-up areas."

Reminds me of a childhood story... something about the spider and the fly...
The ‘spider’ best be more cautious, this ‘fly’ carries armament.
Then, after a few weeks, just start shelling Gaza, and reduce it to rubble. Then build resorts on it, in order to increase tourism to Israel.

They should force them all onto the main urban centers and keep the land Hamas ceded to the Israeli offensive. They move back an inch the israelis move fwd an inch. end of story
Well .. maybe Hamas planned to draw the IDF into their lair .. but from the bombs that hit the UN school, I’d say the IDF has already called their bluff.
Evidently, the IDF zeroed in on mortars being shot at them - and WOW! When the dust settled, guess what they found - the Hamas bomb throwers and the rest of their bombs.
If that’s the total of Hamas’ plan against the IDF - they might as well give up and spare their lives. Oh yeah, they believe in DEATH .. they’d rather die and kill all their children with them.
