An article in todays New York Times whines interminably about Israels ban on foreign journalists entering Gaza. But why should the Jewish state fight two enemies at once Hamas and The Times?
Israel is engaged in a war with cold-blooded killers. In such circumstances, who decided that journalists have a right to run around a war zone and interfere with combat operations?
If a reporter for The Times is accidentally killed in an Israeli air strike or ground offensive, imagine the field day the paper would have with that.
Daniel Seaman, Director of Israels Government Press Office whos quoted in The Times story notes, Any journalist who enters Gaza becomes a fig leaf and front for the Hamas terror organization, and I see no reason why we should help that.
In its news coverage, editorials and opinion columns, The New York Times has consistently undermined the efforts of both the United States and Israel in the war on terrorism. In the U.S., it treats reasonable security measures (like monitoring cell-phone conversations and texting) as steps toward totalitarianism.
The Times has been a harsh critic of almost every move the Israelis have made to protect their people from rocket attacks and suicide bombers. It even opposed the construction of a security fence between pre-1967 Israel and the West Bank. While it regularly reminds readers of the fate of Arabs who left Israel during the 1948 war, it never mentions the 800,000 Jews driven from Arab lands between 1948 and 1967.
As we explained in a December 15 posting on this site, The Times has decided not to refer to Hamas as a terrorist group (even though it manifestly engages in acts of terrorism) because it was elected to govern Gaza and provides social services to Gazans as well as providing rockets to Israels towns and cities.
Between Hamas and The New York Times, its hard to say which is more of a threat to Israels survival.
I feel their pain...
and I don’t care...
Remember no one has the right to go wherever they feel like it. Liberals have a problem with this.
Any journalist who enters Gaza becomes a fig leaf and front for the Hamas terror organization, and I see no reason why we should help that.
I would be pleased and honored to sit and have a beer with this man, heck, I’d even pay for it..
I agree.
Israel has it right, no more lying Times "reporters" to act as enemy propagandists.
In the meantime, maybe the NY Times should amuse itself by trying to do a little reporting from Tibet (and see how much access they get)?
They don’t ned to be in Gaza, Green Jacket Guy can tell them all they need to know.
The NYT forgets that Hamas has a nasty habit of kidnapping journalists.
Where are those must see pictures about this battle against Hamas? Haven’t seen anything from you for awhile...
Sure sure. But in the case of liberal journalists it’s one step worse.
Israel has mucho incentive to keep them out of there because all these liberal activists want to do is blame israel for everything. So why bother?
Should Israel have to relinquish to this demand, they should impose the villages, towns, and cities close to Gaza , still being hit by Hamas missiles, as restricted headquarters for New York Times representatives (since we cant call what they do reporting)
After seeing the lebanon reporting, I sort of understand the reason.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
I oppose this idea. Let’s take up a collection to put lots of NYTs reporters, and CNN and MSNBC reporters in Gaza.
Hamas?,,
Kidnap a NYT reporter? I Doubt it, unless the Times sent a Jewish reporter Hamas would mistake for a spy, instead of one they knew was 100% in the bag for them.
Of course the rep couldn't insult the moron by pointing out that, in the past, "journalists" and their palestinian assistants and interpreters were de facto intelligence agents for the mass murderers.
Not the best way to fight a war, unless you truly don't care about ones's own young men dying on the front.
Heck, they don't even need that, they can just make it up in their office in NYC instead of making it up in Gaza. Nobody would know the difference.
