Looking at them all together ~and while I personally like the HW and W ~ not one of these men could be called conservative.
What real choice does Obama have? Carter’s aides are too old, or dead. Most of the younger Democrats are working for single-issue, non-profits (& hauling down major bucks). That leaves only the Clinton re-treads.
You also have to consider that Obama hasn’t been on the national political scene long enough to have made the necessary contacts.

Reagan did get to meet Bill Clinton at the start of his Administration. He advised Clinton to learn how to salute properly and use Camp David to escape from Washington. Clinton ignored the advice, choosing to learn both lessons the hard way. I imagine President Reagan would have offered similarly concise and sage advice.
