Are you defending the AHSA? If so, you need to be educated. Any group who operates on the code words “common sense”, should go ahead and turn their guns in now.

I wonder how many uneducated peons support the AHSA? It makes me sick to even think about it.

Here is a quote from the founders notes.

“While I was out there I realized it has been just over a year since I wrote my first diary on DailyKos, on the subject of how global warming was impacting hunting. This community has been very suppo rtive of our work. So many of you share both my commitment to gun rights and my love for the environment.”

I have never seen camo applied to the Killflash component.

Doesn’t that comprise performance with some glare when the sun is shining on those light-painted baffles?

Sure looks cool, though!

Our full time job for the foreseeable future is to expose their ignorance, corruption, and lies.

We do that better than anything else.

I recently told my 83 year old father that he and I are too old to lead the charge, but the fire is still in our bellies.

By the grace of God, this is still Texas.

Uhhuh, well the last two gun shows I have been to have been wall to wall crowded.

Ammo is selling like never before. I know people that could barely say “firearm” a year ago who suddenly are chatting with me about shotguns vs. pistols & rifles, revolvers vs. automatics and the best route to the range.

Wonder where that comes from?

Amen.

The main if not only reason the leftist boobs have run roughshod over the right is because the right played nice. It has been easy walking through and over our ranks because we have not stood up shoulder-to-shoulder and said “Here's the line beyond which you do not go unless you are one of us.”

Leftists are NOT wolves, lone or otherwise; at their fiercest and best they are yappy lap dogs. Where they getcha is in their ability to incite others of their kind to “go lemming”: one runs and they all follow. It's sheer numbers, a pack of ill-tempered Chihuahuas and Yorkies. They get under your feet and keep nipping away at your ankles until you trip over them and fall. Then they swarm you.

“I believe the liberals have learned their lesson on gun control, unless they are just totally stupid politically.”

I hope you are right but I don't think you are. Obama owes his being elected to several different left-wing groups; of which on is the anti-gun bunch. So, he must give them their due quid pro quo. I think the first thing they may try is the resurrection of the Brady Bill. Guess we will see...

It would be political suicide to the dems newly found White House and expanded congressional majorities to push gun controls of any kind. I’m afraid those gun grabbers are going to be very disappointed 4 years from now. Gun control is a DEAD END issue. It can ONLY lose votes for those that try it. I believe the liberals have learned their lesson on gun control, unless they are just totally stupid politically.

Even if you're correct, I can only foresee two scenarios and they're both bad.

Scenario 1: Dems ignore your advice and enact significant gun control legislation. This costs them Congress in '10 and the Presidency in '12. By then it's too late because on a good day, the Republicans fail to move the ball and just halt further erosion till they eventually get thrown out. On a bad day they do quite a bit of eroding themselves.

Scenario 2: Dems take your advice and stay away from gun control. This leaves them free to enact socialized health care and vastly increase taxes and regulation. Still, Republicans eventually retake Congress and the Presidency. Unfortunately it doesn't do any good because Republicans have no balls.

Remember that the only federal gun control legislation repealed recently (ever?) was a bill that came with a sunset built in, and EVEN THEN it was touch and go, even with a Republican House, a Republican Senate, and a Republican president!!

Why is it that Republicans have to win just to maintain the already screwed up status quo, and yet when these moronic yokels vote, they actually get at least some of the policy changes they wanted? We're still stuck with the shit passed by Satan's stepchild FDR over half a century ago. And the Dept of Education. AND the EPA (brought to you by a Republican president). AND No Child Left Behind (ditto).

Actually, it was never repealed. AWB sunsetted as it was supposed to do. Bush promised to renew it but congress never gave him the legislation to sign.

Here's another way of looking at it. Clinton and a Democrat -controlled congress could only get an AWB enacted if they gave it a sunset provision --and grandfathered in all existing weapons and magazines currently in circulation. This made the AWB purely symbolic legislation. You could walk into a gun store and legally buy semi-auto Kalashnikovs and 30 round magazines the entire time the AWB was Law of the Land! And they weren't even that expensive!

And as toothless as the AWB was, it still cost the Democrats control of congress.

I think your "Scenario 2" is probably going to be the reality for a while. Dems stay away from gun control, maintain congress and enact liberal legislation on health care and the economy. This is actually quite a bit more frightening than another toothless AWB.

I had a coworker ask me for help in getting a gun. She said that it’s a new year and there’s so much wonderful now with Obama coming in, etc., but she wants to be able to protect herself.

You should have seen her face when I recommended she act now and not wait too long.

It seemed to be the first time she’d realized that grabbing peoples’ rights actually could affect her.

Did the bill they put forward this past year have sunset and grandfathering? Do you think that grandfathering would be in any bill that passes in the next few years?

Right, I'm aware of all of that. Instead of "repealed" I should have used another word, which would have meant "go out of force by any means whatever". My point is that stupid piss-on-the-Constitution liberals can actually effect change in the wrong direction, but conservatives never undo any of the damage, at best only maintaining the newer and worser status quo till they get replaced, so something needs to change drastically.

Magazines for military-pattern firearms were among the only ones that were in decent supply during the AWB, due mostly to the fact that the ban overlooked existing magazines elsewhere on the planet and focused on manufacture from '94 forward. Even with a large supply of mags available for import, the prices still roughly doubled relative to the new ones marked "Law Enforcement Only".

By 2001 or so, large magazines for popular "sporting" firearms such as the Ruger 10/22 had reached astonishing prices due to supply finally drying up. What had cost ten bucks at Wal-Mart was selling for $50.00 and up at gun shows.

Even if the proposed new legislation was exactly the same as the '94 version, the supplies available for import have pretty much dried up. Of course, the importers might simply be holding some back to sell at the expected higher prices.
