The campaign was conceived by Ariane Sherine, a comedy writer who dreamed of just one bus going around London with an atheist slogan after she saw a similar advertisement for Christianity on the back of a bus.

Atheists launch bus ad campaign

Professor Dawkins gave a personal donation of £5,500 to the campaign

An atheist advertising campaign has been launched on buses across Britain.

A fund-raising drive for the promotion, carrying the slogan "There's probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life", raised more than £140,000.

The campaign, which will also feature on the Tube, is backed by the British Humanist Association and prominent atheist, Professor Richard Dawkins.

The Church of England said Christian faith allowed people to put their life into a "proper perspective".

A spokesman said: "We would defend the right of any group representing a religious or philosophical position to be able to promote that view through appropriate channels.

"However, Christian belief is not about worrying or not enjoying life."

“There’s probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life...”

... but be wary of the dangers of Islam.

How insecure does someone have to be to launch an ad campaign proclaiming the non-existence of something?

Why not an ad campaign stating “Unicorns aren't real,” unless, of course, you are afraid as hell that they may be.

Or “There is no judgement after you die, so go rob, rape, murder and there are only consequences if our understaffed and underfunded legal system catches you.”

There is no God. Only attorneys and judges.

How about a “There is no Allah” bus ad?

“Now stop worrying and enjoy your life”.

Said the grasshopper to the ant.

Aesop was no fool. Dawkins is.

I'm not so sure...the people who put out the magazines "The Skeptical Inquirer" and "Skeptic" devote their time to showing that astrology, bigfoot, and ESP don't exist, but I don't think they're afraid that they actually do.

I don’t think it’s about insecurity as much as it is about people attributing their wilful deeds or misdeeds to an imaginary being, to claim some sort of immunity against rationality.

How many people do you see everyday who would do things in a unicorn’s name?

How about a “There is no Allah” bus ad?

Insulting muslims is unacceptable and is regarded as hate speech (and will cause several hundred buses to be blown up) whereas insulting Christians is perfectly acceptable and is regarded as 'healthy, thoughtful debate'.

But you knew that  :-)

These people will not like the results if they succeed in getting God banned from society.

When God is kicked out, thugs and murderers move in. The world will revert back to dog eat dog rule, not by reasonable people, but by the meanest.

Think of a rusty jeep with a 50 cal mounted, a bunch of dirty thugs inside, patrolling their "territories"...or think of MS13 running things.

Even the atheists will be longing for the influence of Christanity.

He meant to advertise “there is no God in England”. The Lord gave up on that place a long time ago.

Then Odin won't let him into Valhalla, since he won't know to die with a sword in his hand.

“There’s probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life...”

#####

These two statements are mutually exclusive.

If there were no God, then we WOULD have nothing but worry.

What if you’re wrong, dude?

It would be better to be faithful to one's conscience, than to feign belief, in anticipation of some imagined reward.

"There's probably no God. So stop worrying and enjoy your life"

Adolescently smug and glib at the same time.

I guess it never occurred to these "sages" that a devoutly religious person could enjoy life and his humble place in it.
