How insecure does someone have to be to launch an ad campaign proclaiming the non-existence of something?

Why not an ad campaign stating “Unicorns aren't real,” unless, of course, you are afraid as hell that they may be.

I'm not so sure...the people who put out the magazines "The Skeptical Inquirer" and "Skeptic" devote their time to showing that astrology, bigfoot, and ESP don't exist, but I don't think they're afraid that they actually do.

I don’t think it’s about insecurity as much as it is about people attributing their wilful deeds or misdeeds to an imaginary being, to claim some sort of immunity against rationality.

How many people do you see everyday who would do things in a unicorn’s name?

Exactly. What is it with atheists (and vegetarians) where they feel compelled to let everyone know that they're an atheist? (Or vegetarian.)

I have yet to meet an atheist or vegetarian who isn't all "Look at meeeeee" about it.
