The campaign was conceived by Ariane Sherine, a comedy writer who dreamed of just one bus going around London with an atheist slogan after she saw a similar advertisement for Christianity on the back of a bus.

It seems that a popular caricature of devout Christians put forth by atheists is that Christians are essentially spending their lives huddled in a dark corner, shivering in continuous fear of the Wrath of God for perpetrating the slightest moral misstep.

BTW, when I posted the BBC link here earlier today there was only a photo of the bus at the BBC site but since then they have added a video report....just thought I'd mention that for those interested.
Dawkins Is In For A Big Surprise One Of These Days Pingout.
Actually I going to call him a godless atheistical communist sapping our bodily fluids via such schemes as fluoridation and evolution
So is it true that your shi* sinks in the toilet bowl rather than float because it doesn't have animal fat in it?
LOL. Fortunately, all of my friends and family like meat, so I don't have th suffer those people lately. There was one where I used to work (my last job in the US) who would do that "Look at meeeeee! I'm a vegetarian!" act every time we went to a restaurant for a company function.
One year, I was on the committee to plan our Christmas lunch, so I pushed for this Brazilian restaurant that is ALL ABOUT meat. Guys dressed like gauchos run around with sizzling platters of things to serve. We went there and the vegetarian drama queen was in his element. He managed to find some vegetarian food to have with his vapors but the rest of us made a big production of raving about how delicious the various meats were. (And they were.)
I can be evil sometimes. ;-)
Is the threat of post-mortem judgment the only thing that keeps you from robbing, raping, and murdering?
I do live by that philosophy, although its not decreed to me by any celestial entity.
Are you under the impression that only religious people build hospitals and serve in medicine?
If that's your assertion, then you've been grossly misinformed.
Yeah, and for many years they had the full blessing of the church. What's your point?
History has shown that when the atheism of communist and socialist regimes grows strong, it has little regard for human life.
The governments of Stalin, Mao, and Hitler might have been so-called "atheist", but they were hardly secular. Hitler was raised a Catholic, never renounced his faith, and was never excommunicated. These evil empires borrowed many of the cult of personality and faith-based worship tenets of relgion. To say that secularists who don't worship a divine deity are destined to be Nazis is insulting, and shows that you don't have a leg to stand on.
Show me a society based on the secularism of Jefferson, Einstein, and Spinoza that has slouched into murder, genocide, and oppression.
You can't because there isn't one.
Torquemada was very much into Christ and his philosophy. What is your point?
Of course not.
But show me an atheist Mother Teresa.
I agree; no secularist has the Vatican behind them pushing through a canonical marketing campaign.
There are tens of thousands of hospitals in the third world run by atheists and secularists. You should do some research on Mother Teresa's "hospitals" and see that most in the medical field would be ashamed if they kept such conditions.
General Jack D. Ripper: Mandrake, do you realize that in addition to fluoridating water, why, there are studies underway to fluoridate salt, flour, fruit juices, soup, sugar, milk... ice cream. Ice cream, Mandrake, children's ice cream.
Group Capt. Lionel Mandrake: Lord, Jack.
General Jack D. Ripper: You know when fluoridation first began?
Group Capt. Lionel Mandrake: I... no, no. I don't, Jack.
General Jack D. Ripper: Nineteen hundred and forty-six. Nineteen forty-six, Mandrake. How does that coincide with your post-war Commie conspiracy, huh? It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? A foreign substance is introduced into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the individual. Certainly without any choice. That's the way your hard-core Commie works.
Group Capt. Lionel Mandrake: Uh, Jack, Jack, listen, tell me, tell me, Jack. When did you first... become... well, develop this theory?
General Jack D. Ripper: Well, I, uh... I... I... first became aware of it, Mandrake, during the physical act of love.
Group Capt. Lionel Mandrake: Hmm.
I'm sure he's got better things to do. Cancer killed about 8 million people last year; maybe he should start there.
You and me get it!!
After your other reply, I guessed you were 30 or younger before I checked your home page.
Your cancer statement is about as relevant to the existence of God as stating your height and weight on your home page.
You need to get over the leftist arguments. Not only are they factually inaccurate and philosophically little more than ‘moral relativism’ (one of the tools of leftists to destroy ‘the establishment’), it is eating your heart with hatred.
You and me get it!!
But the UK Muslims will have the last laugh on atheist Richard Dawkins. When they take over the UK via demographic warfare his books will be banned. So all of Dawkins scientific genius is to no avail, is fleeting
The believers will always out breed the non believers. Even believers in a false prophet (Muhammad)
Atheist come and go and fade to obscurity but the words of Christ are repeated 2000 years after the fact and the same for the Jewish prophets
You're right, its irrelevant to his existence, but one could reasonably assume that the fate of those suffering from terminal diseases outweighs whether or not my rather comfortable existence is up to his standards.
The height and weight mentions are a throwback to my wrestling days when such things used to matter.
you need to get over the leftist arguments.
Questions on the existence of a celestial being are not right and left. Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Paine, Spinoza, Einstein, Rand, and others who believed in personal freedom but not a personal god were hardly leftists.
Not only are they factually inaccurate and philosophically little more than moral relativism (one of the tools of leftists to destroy the establishment), it is eating your heart with hatred.
I welcome you to point out where I've said something factually inaccurate, however, I believe you'd need to have a lot more information about me outside of my height and weight to know whether my heart is being "eaten by hatred". Saying I'm full of hatred is completely supercilious, yet its a common accusation toward secular people here.
Christ and His philosophy are one of love, so nice try.
