If anyone needed more proof that Democrats are children who truly don’t understand how the world works, the selection of lifelong party hack Leon Panetta as the new Director of the Central Intelligence Agency should blow away all doubt.
Barack Obama indicated he picked Panetta because he is thought of as a good manager who understands government bureaucracy. The unspoken “attributes” Panetta brings are his naïve objections to the methods of modern spying and counter intelligence operations.
His pronouncement that America “must not use torture under any circumstances” elevates his selection from stupid to dangerous.
To a Democrat lawyer who was a 1st Lieutenant in the Army, understanding why terrorists cannot be treated like bank robbers is indeed a daunting task.
But someone whose naivety matched his own was the quality Obama wanted as he builds his Administration. The importance of the job means nothing.
Obama apparently thinks that Panetta’s total lack of experience or qualifications makes him the perfect man to protect us in these dangerous times. That this makes no sense means nothing.
Obama could have tapped Oprah Winfrey as the new CIA Director and done better given his rationale. Oprah hates torture and can manage people.
Oprah has managed more money than Panetta has ever administered. She probably has personally met and spent time with many of the world’s leaders.
Notwithstanding the questionable virility of most Democrat politicians, Oprah would have no trouble out crying Panetta at press conferences as she condemned water boarding.
Certainly Oprah is against torture and would be more able to sway public opinion against water boarding and such nasty practices as the dreaded underwear on the head torture.
Oprah could personally fund the new “Humanitarian Desk” at The Company. That would save money for Obama. Panetta couldn’t do that.

The choice of a bureaucrat like Panetta to head CIA - during wartime no less- shows that Bambi
Doesn’t respect (or understand) the CIA or US Intelligence Community (aka “pigs” to his mentors like Ayers)
Doesn’t believe (and understand) we are at war
Expects to get his “intelligence” on real threats (to his power) from other sources
Oprah wouldn’t any any worse...perhaps she could start an “NIE of the Month” club
Oprah wasn’t selected because she’s gained too much weight, and she blames Michelle Obama for it.
Why not Oprah? Because she couldn’t afford the paycut not to mention the fact that she has a life beyond Washington DC? Or, maybe because Obama feels that Paneta is capable of doing more damage to our intelligence gathering capabilities than Oprah? Just thinking out loud here.
Isn’t Oprah being touted as our new National Nanny?
For a Democrat, everything is politics. The only real threats Mr. Obama sees in the world are his political opponents. Hence his support for the Fairness Doctrine. Foreigners with bombs and guns are not a direct threat to his and his party’s political power thus, they barely show up on his radar screen.
Bingo. Panetta’s mission isn’t to protect the country, it is to protect the Messiah.

More likely, this is another Hillary-approved appointment so she can keep tabs on Obama.
