Levi Johnston quits oil field job (Libs cost him his job!)
Anchorage Daily News ^ | January 5, 2009 | WESLEY LOY

Posted on 01/06/2009 5:42:23 AM PST by Virginia Ridgerunner

Levi Johnston, the boyfriend of Gov. Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol, has quit his North Slope oil field job over questions about his eligibility to work in an electrical apprenticeship program, Johnston's father said Monday.

Johnston, 18, began working this fall in the Milne Point oil field with ASRC Energy Services Inc., a major Slope contractor.

In a Sunday newspaper column, Anchorage radio talk show host Dan Fagan questioned how Johnston could take part in ASRC's apprenticeship program without a high school diploma.

Fagan said he understood federal regulations require all members of apprenticeship programs to have a diploma. He also questioned whether the governor might have had a hand in getting Johnston into the program.

Palin adamantly denied that Monday.

Johnston's father, Keith Johnston, said the governor had nothing to do with getting Levi the Slope job. Keith Johnston said his own position as an ASRC construction engineer accounts for any help his son received in landing work.

I evaluate the Palin family using the same criteria I would apply to any family. If any Democrat politician’s teenage daughter had gotten knocked up by a teenage high school dropout whose mother is a drug dealer, conservatives would be howling endlessly about how the girl’s parents were both too busy with their careers to bother raising their children properly. Lack of family values, destroying the fabric of society, etc, etc.

I’d have had a lot more respect for Sarah if she’d announced upfront that this was a private family matter, and then refused to discuss it in any public setting. Instead, a fairy tale “spin” story was concocted and fed to the media, and the muddleheaded teens were marched onto the stage at the Republican convention, coerced into serving the interests of Sarah’s political career. Even now, more than 2 months after the election, Sarah is STILL using the media to try to spin the tale of Bristol and Levi into some sort of asset to her political image.

I was reading Aesop’s Fables recently. “A man is known by the company he keeps.” Then you look at the results of the Ziegler commissioned poll where many Obama voters reveal that they are total morons. Result: Aesop’s Fables are not relevant to these people. So what: Obama is a Marxist or a Communist. They don’t care about Bill Ayres or Khalidi or Rezko. He is the Messiah. And remember we were taught in Sunday School that the Messiah CANNOT ever be wrong in his ideas or who he associates with.

Again the Achilles’ heel, the weak link. Get used to it Palin supporters. It’s good strategy by the MSM I’m sorry to say.

Rules are rules??? Hitler had them too.
Under what constitutional authority does the fed issue a rule requiring a HSD for an apprentice program?

No it is not. Federal regulations require members of apprectice programs, either union or non-union, to have a high school degree or the equivilent. It’s not up to the company.

What federal regulations????

Local view - Dan Fagan would knife his own mother if he thought it would damage Palin - the fat man hates the Gov. Period.

Talk show host = failed “investigative TeeVee reporter”

Dan has been bouncing around Anchorage for years, don’t know that he ever made enuf sense to listen to on the radio. SUre didn’t make it as a TeeVee guy.

In other words, if a kid is able to pass the GED after 10th grade, tough; he simply has to wait 2 more years to be allowed to take it. They figure that this will make more kids hang around high school longer, since their employment options with neither GED nor diploma are very limited, and there iwll often be parental pressure not to be a “drop-out”.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Many really bright kids could pass the GED in late elementary or middle school. In my state they must be 18.

Consequences:

A GED or H.S. diploma is required for eligibility for government Pell Grants, government loans, and state scholarships.

Can you imagine how many kids would jumping off the Marxist government school Titanic? That's big bucks to the schools and it means fewer jobs for our nation's communist teachers.

By the way, my homeschooling kids were in college by the ages of 13, 12, and 13. My husband and I have jumped the GED hoops. In the end, we simple shelled out the big bucks for tuition.

( Another story of homeschoolers paying twice: once in taxes for other people's kids, and a second time paying full rate for their own kids.)

Pretty soon Levi and Bristol will be made out to be the 21st c version of Bonnie and Clyde or the fugitive couple in Sugarland Express. No young couple will be vilified more; that is my prediction. Reporters will be camped at their doorstep for as long as Sarah is a public figure and a threat to Obama. Remember George Soros has unlimited resources. The Marxists are amoral and heartless. They will show no mercy to the enemy. I, for one, do not question what obama and the MSM will do, but the open question is what will Sarah do?

I just watched The Goebbels Experiment - interesting. It seems targeted assasination is a popular pasttime for tyrants. Dictatorial weenies seem to prefer dirty tricks and dark arts versus a fair fight.

I hope and pray Palin is watchful.

They've already set her church on fire...

As aside, if someone has seen that documentary (which is entirely read from Goebbels diary), would you agree that it's possible that Goebbels family was mostly a prop? Wouldn't be the first or the last time a family is used as a piece of propoganda.

it was his lying and deception that cost him the job

I hope to hell you have something to back up your libelous claim. Please post the source for your claim of "lying and deception" now.

As a poster pointed out, a high school diploma is not federally mandated for this job.

N-S: Apparently it is
I have two degrees...

And you have now proven how worthless said degrees are by your lack of reading comprehension skills.

From the article:

A little background on Dan Fag an from another thread:

Dan Fagan is the Anchorage talk show host, columnist and blogger who had a big falling out with Gov. Sarah Palin and has been trying to tear her down ever since. Fagan’s best friends in Alaska are the Murkowskis and Big Oil. Ever since Lisa Murkowski’s father Frank was pried loose from the governor’s job by Sarah, things between the Murkowskis and the Palins have been going downhill. The Murkowskis are still tight with Dan Fagan, however, and Lisa is a regular contributor to Fagan’s blog The Alaska Standard.

Even after Palin upset Frank Murkowski in the Republican gubernatorial primary, she still managed to get along with Fagan. But when Sarah Palin took on the oil companies, that was the final straw. Dan has never forgiven her for that unpardonable sin, and it’s been open warfare ever since.

Let me tell you all a little about Dan Fagan.
This guy hated Palin from the moment she ran for governor.
Here’s an excerpt from Kaylene Johnson’s bio of Palin:

Meanwhile, the [Republican] old guard didn’t know what to make of the young populist candidate, especially when she began moving up in the polls despite their best efforts to either discredit her or support her opponents.

‘Anyone who was part of the establishment fought against her. [Talk show host] Dan Fagan clawed, fought, ridiculed, embarrassed, and deliberately misrepresented Sarah,’ Bailey said. Disparaging remarks on radio programs sometimes backfired.

Fagan showed up at the Palin campaign headquarters one morning to clarify a point before his daily show. Waiting at the front desk was a man who took one look at Fagan and dug out his checkbook. ‘This is your fault,’ he said, waving his checkbook in the air. ‘Every time you bash this woman on the air, I’m down here writing another $500 check. Cut it out.’”

He’s always been out to destroy her and her credibility.

Again Sarah opened the door to this subject herself and the MSM is walking right through and occupying her house like an unwelcome guest.

Or using a battering ram?

She didn't say anything other than the facts. Nefarious jerks make life difficult for well-meaning people.

That’s the way I see it. If I were the kid’s father, I would not be encouraging him to break the rules. It sux the libs called him on it, and the kid got drummed out, but he can get his GED and come right back.

Johnston said his son always struggled with school and never got his diploma.

Looks like Bristol picked a real winner.

"You guys are watching him so tightly," Johnston said, referring to the media. "He's being treated different than an average 18-year-old kid. He has to do everything by the book now.

LOL! Day-um!!

Seriously though, this is turning into a soap opera. The Palins are in danger of replacing the Spears family as "the family that won't leave us alone". Whether the fault is the media's, the Palin's or some of both I'm not sure but it's starting to get old really quickly about now.

and the kid got drummed out,

Here, I'll clarify it more for you:

But due to the media attention surrounding the matter, Johnston said he and his son conferred Monday and Levi decided to resign and concentrate on his education.

I didn't hear any drumming. Sounds like an honorable thing to do rather than allow the employer to suffer the same biased scrutiny. You know damn well Fagan would be going after the employer next demanding an explanation as to why Levi was hired.........
