'It's over': Ann Coulter banned for life by NBC

NBC has reportedly banned best-selling author Ann Coulter for life after abruptly canceling an appearance on the "Today" show to promote her new book, "Guilty: Liberal 'Victims' and Their Assault on America."

"We are just not going to have her on any more, it's over," a top network source told the Drudge Report.

This afternoon, NBC explained it abruptly cut Coulter from its planned broadcast tomorrow morning, because the schedule was overbooked.

But Drudge noted "Today" executives replaced the author with showbiz reporter Perez Hilton, who recently offered $1,000 to anyone who would throw a pie at Coulter.

Hilton also is promoting the launch of a new book, "Red Carpet Suicide."

When I heard about a lifetime ban I wondered "whose lifetime -- Coulter's or NBC's?" Chances are Coulter is going to be around a lot longer than NBC. (When my husband heard something about a lifetime ban, he just assumed it was a juiced up baseball player).

Anyway, I tend to reserve opinion when (1) unnamed sources are invoked and (2) there's a book, TV, or movie promotion involved.

Actually, she is much younger, far prettier,damned thinner, smarter, can actually write, and says the things I wish I could say to the liberals that surround me. But in spite of all of our differences, she speaks for me and I live some of my life excitedly and secretly in her shoes!
I am a complete cheapskate but pre-ordered her book (which arrives tomorrow!)so I can enjoy her delicious, well-founded, and excellently researched work. All the best, Ann!

First, I didn't use the word rumor. I am reserving judgment about the story until I know more. Second, I am very skeptical of any and all reports based on unnamed sources, which of course includes about 99% of all news. I spend most of my waking hours being skeptical. Third, I seriously doubt, strictly on market-based principles, that anyone gets banned for life from television. If a person has something that would be good for the ratings and good for the ad rates, he or she will be back on the air. Look at the freaky tale of freaky sportscaster Marv Albert as an example. Fourth, you gotta admit whether true or false, this story is GREAT for Coulter.
