WASHINGTON – President-elect Barack Obama, commencing face to face consultations with congressional leaders Monday, is embracing an unexpectedly large tax cut of up to $300 billion. Obama said the country faces an "extraordinary economic challenge." Besides $500 tax cuts for most workers and $1,000 for couples, the Obama proposal includes more than $100 billion for businesses, an Obama transition official said. The total value of the tax cuts would be significantly higher than had been signaled earlier.

Why work when the money is free, at least as long as the printing presses work.

The last stimulus has such a big impact, bets on how this one will work?

Just so that I can keep up. Tax cuts are now good according to Democrats and large deficits are now good? But Bush is still evil?

Restrict the tax cuts to those of us who pay federal income taxes.

PS Liberals: Just paying FICA taxes doesn’t count as paying income taxes.

Well this so-called "Tax Cut" will make sure and give more free money to the Welfare recipients who pretend to be taxpayers. That's right! EARNED INCOME TAX CREDIT recipients are sure to get even more WELFARE under Obama.

Meanwhile, like the last stimulis there were be an upper income cutoff (no doubt somewhere far below his election promise of $250,000) that will mean that millions of ACTUAL TAXPAYERS get ZERO.

It is politically incorrect to point out that while all these policies are described in very neutral terms the net effect some how always ends up being WEALTH TRANSFER. And of course blacks are very over-represented in those doing the taking and very under-represented in those doing the giving.

I won't be getting any due to income caps ... and many who pay NO taxes will be getting the whole $500.

This isn't a tax cut, it's the policy of a man (and a party) who

It's socialist redistribution of wealth, nothing more, nothing less.

Last year there was a $600 stimulus, and four months later, we were hit with the financial crisis. Why would $500 now have any meaningful effect?

No kidding! Last year, I got almost nothng from that stupid "rebate" when i sure pay in a hell of a lot more than those who got the full value. Why do the taxpayers get nothing, when the free riding leeches get a rebate? Why the hell should a welfare momma get it when i don't? Because I have worked hard to succeed? WTF?

A Dem president (elect) talking about big tax cuts?

He's not giving this money to taxpayers. He's giving this money to workers. Therefore, these are not tax cuts. This is welfare.

We're spending money we don't have, to try to fix problems which government cannot fix. And in addition to that, we're greatly increasing our welfare payments.

Gonna be painful.

A lousy $500? The average sheeple are so stupid that they will actually think this is better than what they had under the Bush tax cuts.
