John Travolta's Son Dies
tmz.com/ ^ | Jan 2nd 2009 | TMZ staff

Posted on 01/02/2009 2:01:13 PM PST by Bobalu

Rand Memorial Hospital in the Bahamas tells TMZ the son of John Travolta died today.

We're told 16-year-old Jett was vacationing with Travolta and wife Kelly Preston. We do not know the circumstances of his death.

There have been reports that Jett was autistic, though Travolta has denied it, saying he suffers from Kawasaki Syndrome, a condition which often leads to heart disease.

UPDATE: 4:00 PM ET -- Travolta's attorney Michael Ossi says Jett suffered a seizure at his family's vacation home at the Old Bahama Bay Hotel on Grand Bahama Island. Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful and he died on scene.

UPDATE: 4:40 PM ET -- Restview Memorial Mortuary and Crematorium in the Bahamas tells TMZ Jett's body would be transferred to Restview on Monday.

UPDATE 4:54 PM ET -- A police spokeswoman says Jett hit his head in a bathtub and apparently that triggered the seizure.

It’s the 2nd person in a week that I have heard dying from seizures. It’s not comforting because my daughter has epilepsy.

My prayers go out to the family.

I DO hope though that they weren’t withholding his meds for siezures though. I know they do that sometimes thinking that it being a brain disorder, it can fixed with audits.

Same here, though mine is a 21 year old son. Thoughts 7 prayers to John & his family.

Yes, my daughter doesn’t have epilepsy, but she does suffer from siezures.

How sad. Just goes to show that no matter how rich, famous or successful, life holds tragedy for us all. My prayers for him and the Travolta family.

I remember when he was born. I didn’t think he was that old.

The poor kid had the misfortune to have parents who believe in Scientology. He could have had the best that money could buy..since his dad jets around in his own plane.

here is an account

Maybe his death will shed some light on this BS about not treating kids.

“The very hardest thing, to lose a child.”

Seinfeld show -

Mr. Ross: I don’t think there’s any greater tragedy than when parents outlive their children.
George Costanza: Yes, I hope my parents die long before I do.

Thank you, too. I’m jumping the gun here (disclaimer) but forgive me for wondering if perhaps the supposed injury that caused the seizure is a convenient explanation for the child not being on proper anti-seizure medication? Sorry for any offence in my original comments, too.

He had a seizure (probably wasn't taking medications ) and hit is head on the bathtub. He was a pretty big young man. At least he is in peace now. I can't imagine what it is like for the child or the parents when one has autism...which by all accounts -except the Travoltas..is what he had.

What seems strange to me (assuming the reports are true) is that he went to take a shower on Thursday evening and wasn’t found until Friday morning. I still look in on my son (when he’s home from college) before I go to bed!

I’m just curious. Does Scientologists believe in medical care, similar to the beliefs of the Jehovah’s Witnesses? I know there is medicine for seizures to keep them in check.
